Doing much better. No pain anymore, just kinda stiff still. Been trying to keep up with doing my exercises every day. Swelling is almost completely gone. I am still wearing the lace up brace when I am out and about, but around the house I don't have to wear it anymore. Doctor said that if it still is not good to go on the 30th, when I go back, I will have to start Physical Therapy as it will need more to get back to where it needs to be.

.... and pray tell WHY is it risky posting on this thread? Are you afraid of something? Tell us more. Inquiring minds want to know. We will not tell anybody about your darkest secrets. Promise.

Joe - glad to hear that the leg is getting better. My sister had a back operation, and she had physical therapy for a couple of years!

Ron - LOGIC? Don't you dare try to bring any logic to the lounge, especially this chat thread. If logic was a prerequisite to this thread, I would not have had the thrill of laughing at Fred's typical posts. :p :p :p Speaking of Fred, is he off to some ungodly place on his Harley?

A cold front just moved thru, the temp and the depoint just fell thru the floor. I think I may go for a ride. :MECOOL:

Are those feet i see under it as it moves?

Ron61 07-22-2008 02:56 AM

:)

I wish it was my car. It is just some cartoon car that I saw on some site and got. I haven't had a car for two years now.

GMW

Yesterday finally turned out to be a nice day at about 4 PM. The temp and humidity went way down, and I went for a nice ride. Life is good, except that the Weather Channel forecast is for scattered showers and thunderstorms for the next 8 days!

At least that will cut down the water needed for my veggie garden. Picked a couple of cukes yesterday ... tasted good in my salad.

Ron61 07-22-2008 06:42 AM

:(

Darn,

The smoke is bad here this morning. It is already later than I normally take the dogs for their morning walk and I still can't hardly see. I went out to to open the gate and my eyes are watering and I am sneezing really hard. It is almost as if we had a heavy cloud cover except for the stinging eyes and stink.

Ron

4RE KLR 07-22-2008 07:59 AM

GMA everyone.

Damn its hot here. We were going to grill out ribs yesterday. I went out in the evening when it had cooled down some and took the cover off of the grill. The temp gauge said 400* and I had not even turned it on yet. In fact it was so hot the grill would not start because of the safety for the bottle.

I had to get the charcoal and grill them with wood and charcoal. It was a little more work but hooooly smoke they were sooo much better.

Now that's hot!

It was about 70°F yesterday when I went for my ride. Got down to 65°F last night but its all the way up to 70°F now. Think I'll do some weeding today. The veggies and flower beds are being overrun. But first, I have to finish reading the newspaper.

Ta ta

Ron61 07-22-2008 10:51 AM

Warren,

You are out pulling weeds when you could be driving and taking pictures. By the way, when are you going to take a picture of your Cobra in your garden?

Ron :)

Joe Wicked 07-22-2008 11:49 AM

Yea it is hot here. This morning at 7AM I took the trash out and by the time I reached the curb I was sweating. Hot and muggy.

Ron61 07-22-2008 01:03 PM

It is muggy here today also. They are supposed to get the containment line completely around the big fire burning by the dam today if nothing goes wrong. It has been burning for over a month now. There are a lot of people with breathing problems around here right now. And even after they get the fire contained and finally out, we will have smoke here in this end of the valley for another week or so and they also have to do the mop up which will take time. But it will be nice to finally not have a big fire burning just a few miles away. Breathing this thick smoke and ash has really been a pain in the neck. The fire fighters have did a great job and some of them have been hurt and one killed that I know of.

Y'all were talking about cleaning stuff for wheel/tires a while back.

I had some wheels that had road grime and brake dust pretty much baked on. Tried all kinds of stuff with very little success.I was starting to think it was just a lost cause.

Then I heard someone bragging about Shout, that laundry stain remover stuffand how it cleaned wheels/tires & powercoated surfaces.
First tried it out on some chili dog & Sloppy Joe stains.Worked great.

Sprayed it on,waited maybe 2 minutes and the junk just wiped off with zero effort !!! Now I just run a paper towel over them, done.

Joe Wicked 07-22-2008 01:44 PM

Here is too the firefighter who gave it all. May his family be able to find peace in the fact he gave all to help save others.

Ron61 07-22-2008 02:14 PM

Joe,

These poor guys and women have been really dragging the last two weeks and are starting to make mistakes. Top that off with the record 117 degree temperatures we had a week ago and it is around 180 to 200 degrees in the canyons and on the fire lines. And many of them have no experience in fighting fires like these in the canyons as they came from relatively flat states and other countries even. Now they are trying to break some of them loose and let them go home if the containment will hold another day or so until they can actually put out the main fire. Once all that is done and they get all of the others in the state contained, there will be a long period of mopping up, but they can use less trained firemen for that. I worked one Summer with the forestry here and it is a hot and miserable job. But I worked at several miserable jobs to pay my way through college. These people have done a remarkable job under the worst possible situation. God Bless Them All.

Ron :)

Joe Wicked 07-22-2008 03:13 PM

It is a profession that there will never be enough thanks for.

4RE KLR 07-22-2008 04:51 PM

Fred,
I will try that. Thanks

There is never enough thanks for some lines of work. The Military, Police and Firefighters are just a few.

A few years ago there were two or three firefighters that were killed here fighting a fire in a church. because they were volunteer firefighters and in a different country other than their own the department did not pay a life claim for the families. There an enormous amount of upheaval here but it was all to no avail. The families got nothing.

After that there has always been a shortage of firefighters in that county and I really can't say I blame them. Of coarse no one want to get killed on duty just for the insurance but if you know your families will be left destitute, why would you put yourself in harms way?

Mmmmmm Finished off the ribs from last nights grilling adventure. Those had to be the best I have grilled yet. Finger licking good :) (I can hear it now)

trularin 07-22-2008 06:54 PM

Fred, thanks for the tip about SHOUT.

trularin 07-22-2008 06:58 PM

wtm442 07-23-2008 06:41 AM

Good Morning Everyone (GME)

I hope everybody in south Texas is OK. Looks like Brownsville will be getting the brunt of the storm.

Another nice ride last night. Sorry Ron, no pics. Very humid today and tomorrow with temps only in the mid 70's with thunderstorms.

This place is getting to be like Florida with a thunderstorm every afternoon!

Steve - I've got 8 pounds of corned beef to cook tonight, but it will not be on the grill. Like all good Yankee's, we boil our food in water!
