Just passing through..

Sorry I've been AWOL, but I have been busy.

MissACobra 08-19-2009 08:49 PM

Hello.

just thought i'd introduce myself, on this thread and being considered the "fresh meat" before anyone jumps to conclusions, i don't know a lot about cars, but one things for sure.. At the age of 5, was when i FIRST fell in love with an AC cobra and will forever be in my blood. My dad has been building an AC cobra and found out a couple days ago that it will FINALLY be mine after MANY years because he will be moving away. So just thought i'd sum it up and if i had any questions about anything with the cobra, i'd find help here. Thanks

Joe Wicked 08-20-2009 05:03 AM

Welcome to our little corner of the world. Lots of answers here on CC and lots of information. What brand of Cobra is your Dad building?

Ron,
This should make you laugh. I show up yesterday and the lab just plain decided that they did not want to make one of my crowns so I still have a temporary and have to go back when it is done. I was funny to see them call up the lab and cuss them out though.

Ron61 08-20-2009 05:49 AM

:)

MissACobra,

Welcome to the club and that is great that you will be getting your Cobra. Tell us a little about yourself and the Cobra. Pictures are a must. ;)

Joe,

Now that is an unusual situation. Did the lab give any reason why they had decided to just not make one of the crowns? Normally they would jump at the chance to make a bunch of them.

Ron

trularin 08-20-2009 05:51 AM

Amazing how this thread would be a landing zone...we are surely in trouble.

Great to have you!!!

Please post often and tell us everything.

There isn't anything Ron does not know. :D :D

:D

Ron61 08-20-2009 06:00 AM

Tru,

She is new. Are you trying to scare her away already? It will be nice to have another person on here to talk with.

Ron :o

MissACaobra
Welcome to our little corner of CC.
This is the best thread on the whole site, so you have come to the right place. The folks that post on this thread know every single possible thing there is to know about every Cobra ever built.
And if you believe that I have this really nice bridge I need to sell.

Joe
You should have told them that you forgot to bring your checkbook as well.

OK, So I have been AWOL for a few days. I have been so busy. Remember the HP mess I was in a while back? Well I got an $499.00 (plus tax) brand new "All in One" for the trouble. Imagine that. And to boot I got a $60.00 in-store (local Office Max) coupon I can use for anything in the store.

Hmm, The power of posting a problem publically on a BS thread, on a car site with, what with some 30,000 members now.

Hey Ya'll,
Make it a Great Day!

Ron61 08-20-2009 08:09 AM

:)

Steve,

Nice to hear from you and I am happy that you got some satisfaction out of HP. That is more than a lot of people get from any of them. I take PC World which has a consumer complaint section and I read what they write in about and it seems that service is no longer a part of the business world. If it doesn't work, but another one. PV world dos try to contact some of the companies that have caused people grief and on several occasions they have managed to get the company to make good on their warranties and such. But I think that had more to do with the bad publicity they were getting in the magazine than any real desire to help.

Ron

Joe Wicked 08-20-2009 08:42 AM

I didn't have to pay anything yesterday and she said she was giving me a free cleaning, not to mention they did not charge me for everything anyway, so I am not complaining. The lab just claimed it was not on the lab slip, but it was funny to listen to her read the lab slip over the phone. She read the first line, then said, "And, that means you need to do what follows this word also, And #13 metal and porcelain crown. Maybe I don't have a firm grasp of the english language, but I read that as you need to do #3 and #13. Should I give up on English and learn a new language to put it in? What language do you want?" I was laughing my ass off at this point. The comic interlude was worth the trip alone. After a bit, she says, "Oh, so you are saying it is clear and you just did what you wanted and billed me for work you didn't do?" after a bit more she says, "Maybe I should just bill you for the extra gas mileage my client has to use up, and his car gets terrible gas mileage." At this point I am in tears from laughing at her cuss them out. She is as big of a smarta** as I am.

Ron61 08-20-2009 09:13 AM

:D

Joe,

Now that was a trip to the dentist that was worthwhile. They didn't understand that she wanted two crowns but billed her for two. At least you got a good laugh out of it.

Ron

Joe Wicked 08-20-2009 09:49 AM

There is another Joe I work with that also goes to her and I was telling him the story this morning and he goes, "Damn, she was in super b*tch mode". I still laugh thinking about it.

Ron61 08-20-2009 11:07 AM

It is nice when you can go to a dentist and laugh about it. My dentist is a nice guy and I have known him since he first started. And he is a car nut. He used to have a great GTO and then sold that and went into the off road stuff. He always talks cars to me when I am in there.

Ron

Joe Wicked 08-20-2009 11:22 AM

Thats cool Ron. Dr. Dale is a 50ish Jewish lady that is not PC in any way and does not care what others think about it. She cracks me up. If she thinks you are being silly the question comes out, "What are you, Stupid?" The whole office is women and Olga (russian who does the cleaning is the most well adjusted). But they are good at what they do. Dr. Dale is funny, she will cuss you out while working on you, then when done, smile and say, "Give me a hug, nice to see you again. Come back and see me soon, so I can bill your insurance again. I have a macy's card to pay here."

392cobra 08-20-2009 01:59 PM

Ron,
I just got through watching a show on the The History Channel. It was about the dinosaur's prehistoric apocalypse.

They were coming up with all kinds of ideas and guesses.

If you don't remember would you go back through your cave drawings and stone tablets and let me in on what really happened ?

Joe Wicked 08-21-2009 05:31 AM

Nothing like a thunderstorm to wake you up at 2:20AM and keep you up. Once it was time to get up the storm moved out.

Ron61 08-21-2009 06:59 AM

:)

Fred, I was busy watching a show about where they have found one of the old landing areas of the flying birds back then. Then I read about it in the news. They had a regular landing strip on some mountain and they showed the marks their claws had made in the stone over the years as they landed and took off. Traffic control was the biggest has the right of way. Now you know how airports came to be.

Ron

trularin 08-21-2009 07:41 AM

I noticed she did not come back to chat.

What are the chances that the AC compressor would go on one jeep...100%. The chances it would go on two jeeps, within a day of each other and in my garage...?

Dang, surely there are powers greater than chance at work on my farm. I am not allowed to go for a month without fixing something.

Ron, I do believe I am beginning to get frustrated.

:D :D

Same thing here, but we sure needed the rain.

The lakes still have plenty water but the yards are suffering badly.

Ron61 08-21-2009 08:09 AM

:o

Tru,

I can understand your frustration. The other night when the fan on my heat pump froze and cause it to heat the house so much I had to call them at midnight to come replace it as the house was to hot to sat inside, I was really hot, tired and frustrated as I got no sleep at all for that day and night. The chances of both of yours going at the same time are high, but remember the saying "Things happen in threes'" and hope that it doesn't apply in your case.

Ron :p

Yea we needed the rain, just all the thunder I could have done without. I am tired. Just yawning all morning at work. You've met me, you know I need as much beauty sleep as i can get.
