How do I get that information on the Auto Zone Batteries?

I see it on the Trojans, but I don't see that info on the AZ batteries.

Autozone should have a chart that will give you the specs on their batteries. As Joe said, in your case Cranking Amps isn't as important as in a car. You need batteries with more capacity that will last longer.

If you are looking at replacing the batteries in the golf cart be sure to stick
with the deep cycle batteries, which are made to be drained and recharged
many times - much heavier guts/lead plates. I don't think car batteries would
last long in that application. Same as not using a deep cycle battery in a car.
They are made for different applications - may work short term but not for
the long haul and could mess up the charger/alternator. IMHO

These things cost a lot of money, to buy them all and I don't want to screw up and have six batteries I can't use.

I'm guessing the batteries are for the cart. Just to be safe you may want to
call whoever sells the carts in your area and see what they recommend. I
used mine in Kalaupapa, Molokai and I am sure I had the Trojans - you treat
them right and you should get about 6 years of use. In my case I would
sometimes be away for several months at a time and it never let me down.
That is one place where there is no store etc and the supply barge only makes
the trip once a year so one does have to plan ahead! I use the deep cycles on
my scissors lifts also and actually got 10 years off of one set. That is what
they are for so: if the batteries are for the cart go with the deep cycles.

I don't remember the brand but back when I had the big car trailer I had deep cycle batteries in it and they weren't Trojans. I haven't seen that brand around here. I got mine with the trailer and then replaced them with another brand that I got from one of the Marinas. And they were expensive and require a charger that has a deep cycle setting on it.

Somehow I feel better even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Pepsi is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye--they need water.

As I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all darn day,
and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail....

Yes, the batteries are (will be) for the cart. There are 6 -6 volts in the cart. If you have ever seen a Trojan battery you would remember it. (I think) They are sort of red, burgundy in color and have Trojan written all over them. There is no doubt what they are.

I have spoken to several of the cart companies around here. Some say Trojans are the Rolls Royce of cart batteries, while others say the Interstate equivalent are better. Others yet still say the NAPA 8144 is even better. So, who is right?

Honestly, I think is is like Cobras. Some like the big block, some like the small block. I think it is a matter of opinion, or which ones the Cart company happens to sell.

I am really trying to do my homework here, because they are so expensive to buy all 6 at one time.

Yamaha, the cart manufacturer, does not recommend a particular brand, but rather the necessary specs. That is understandable if you look at the big picture.

I also agree with you that proper maintenance will help them to last a good long time.

As Ron said, Autozone and Napa should both have the specs available that you need to compare. They don't list them as they want you to take the time to call/come in as they know if you do come in, you are likely to just go ahead and buy it.

For your application you are more interested in the capacity of the batteries than the cranking amps. Also find out what level of charge they recommend using. My charger has a deep cycle setting on it, but I had to ask the company that made my batteries what amp rate they recommended for them. It can change depending on the capacity.

Thanks for asking, It has been getting better every day I have been going to work in tennis shoe's for a week and all was good:) today I put on my work boots and it was a little painful but good;) then at work my boots got wet:CRY: trying to get them off was not fun! back to tenny's tomorrow.%/

Back to Steve - As of late I sure didn't buy the RR batteries on the last go
around. I think I got the mid price batteries which were about $90 ea ?
It's been a while, pardon the lack of memory! The main thing I was trying to
clarify was that they were for a golf cart, and if so, only a deep cycle should
be used. I have had a few EZGO's and they come in handy on large job
sites. I usually get at least 4 years out of the batteries, usually much more.

Fore all of you with cool weather of under 110. Yesterday it was 118 here and even Redding admitted to 115. It could be hotter today and tomorrow but is supposed to drop down to a high of 98 on Friday. That will be like a cold blast of air from the Gulf of Alaska.

I got the Chiller Band out and soaked it again and am wearing it every time I have to go outside for any reason. It is amazing that it keeps me from almost fainting after a few minutes in this heat. But nothing can stop this instant sweat. Opening the house door is like sticking your head in an oven when that blast of hot air comes in.

Just got back from the grocery store and it is already 83 here at 3AM. This is supposed to continue until Friday when for the first time in a week or so it will drop to double digits. Fridays high is supposed to just be 98. That will seem like a cool blast of air from the sea of Alaska. People will be wearing coats.

I have figured out that other batteries will work as long as they are deep cycle, as you said.

There are other alternatives but they still cost about $100 each now. :(
