Back in the day - I raced a Sunbeam on Gilmer Road coming from Fox River and heading to Rand Road. Gilmer has a few good curves on it. I was driving a Corvair with 140 hp and I was ahead of the Sunbeam. My corvair handled well on the curves and the Sunbeam was not able to take the turns as fast as I was able to. I could hear his tires squealing behine me. He was was trying to catch up to me but wasn't able to. When we got to the open straights on Rand Road he didn't even try to go by me. I sure he would have had my Corvair for lunch if he wanted too. Believe it or not.
