Fred is doing great but you notice his posting has dropped off. He is still fighting the urge to eat Frenchy. Warren, how long was it before you lost the urge to eat Turtle?

rdorman,
Do it now, and never look back. Just think how sweet those side pipes will smell once your senses come back!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention how delicious a kiss from your wife will be.................

Thanks Fred. I'm amazed that its been 2 years without a cigarette. Especially considering I smoked for about 40 years. I still get an urge every so often, but I've resisted the temptation.
Of course, every so often I'll walk toward someone smoking outside and take a deep breath, just for laughs.
Fred - keep up the fight. Its tough, and many people fall off the wagon. But you have many members here on CC pulling for you, along with the help of the Humpin' Ho Sisters and Turtle.

I tried the patch about 10 years ago, that didn't work out for me.
I'm glad I ran across Chantix ! It got me thru the nicotine withdrawals and put the whoa on the urges.I never noticed any withdrawals at all.I had smoked for 39 years,2-3 packs aday.
I went cold turkey,no chantix,at 1 month. The nicotine was 100% out of my system and I figured I could handle any urges on my own.I've been off Chantix for four weeks this friday. No problem.
Rick,We are all so different. I just knew I could go it alone after 1 month,Most go the whole 3 months or more.
I would say go for it with the Chantix.I just can't imagine it being more painless than it has been.

Yea Fred. But only 17 pounds? I gained about 75 pounds in the first year after I quit. It really helped that I had lost 100 pounds in the couple of years before I quit smoking. If I had not, I would have to grease up my body to fit into my Cobra!
Keep up the good work, but watch out for the weight gain, even if you still consider yourself skinny. During the first 6 months I used to grab a plastic straw and use it like a teething ring for an ex-smoker. This helped, especially after a good meal, when the urge for a butt is high.

I guess this is what I get for trying to help you fix your carb.
I GAINED 17 muscular pounds.
I think it's time for 1/4 of a chocolate cake before my bedtime snack.
