Hey Steve. You need to remove your head from your ass and open your eyes.
Every state does whats in their best interests.
Israel, despite whatever missteps you want to cite to has been a stauch U.S. ally since its birth. Israel has a democracy. Israel has turned an arid waste land into a productive and cultured country under rule of western style law operating in the 21st century. Israel is constantly providing helpful and needed intelligence to the U.S. that helps keep you and your kids alive. What has Iran and Syria done lately except manuver to help those that would destroy Israel and kill you, your family and your way of life.
Whatever UN resolutions you want to cite too as violated by Israel you need to look at the sponsors of the resolutions. You will find Iran, Syria and every antisemetic state at the bottom the chit pile on those.
Nukes. Yup. Israel has them. I don't recall Israel signing any non proliferation agreement. In fact, there is a chance that if Israel didn't have them by now they would have been attacked many times over. Moreover, I say thank God Israel has them to keep those dirty toed antisemtic bastards at bay. A testement to Israel is the fact that they haven't used them or threatened to use them in the face of terrible attacks and threats of destruction from Iran and others. They have made clear their hope of never having to use them. Do you think we'd be as lucky if Iran or Syria had nukes. You see Israel and the Israeli people value life and don't seek destruction or conquest. Iran, Syria, Hamas, Hezzbolah and the rest of the dirty toes have different ideas.
What problems does Israel cause. I'd love to know. Is the problem their "existence" maybe? Is it that they occupy too much land? Is it that they "took land from the Palestinians"? Is it that they don't take chit from terror organizations? Is it that they won't bend over for Hezzbollah or Hamas, two organizations committed to their destruction? Is it that they have not dissolved their country or government and moved to europe like Amidinajad (or however you spell that bastards name) would like? Is it that there haven't been enough Israeli citizens and school children targeted and killed by homocide bombers or missles? Is it that they didn't give back the Gaza with instructions on how to run a country and government and how not to inhabit a territory like animals and destroy everything in sight including million dollar green houses for agriculture left behind by the Israelis? Is it that the Israelis aren't better at avoiding collateral damage when the crap they are fighting hide behind women and children and dress in civilian clothes? The list could go on for pages.
You dare to compare countries like Syria & Iran two clear enemies of this country and sponsors of death and terrorism to Israel? You dare to compare Syria and Iran, sponsors terrorism and people who would kill you, your dog and rape and then kill your wife to the government and country of Israel.
Its amazing there are really schmucks like you walking around who clearly feel its just easier to get rid of the jews and solve the problem. The problem with your apparent thought of ridding us of Israel to appease Syria, Iran and all terror organizations is that if you "give them the jews" what will they want next? I know, do you? Hint....I hope your wife will look good in a berka.

I think it is common for people to view their position as "the only correct position" and that everything to the left or right is off the mark. And it may be off of your mark, but that is no reason to go about smacking people. The end result is people end up despising you and avoiding you. Who the hell wants to make a point with you when they know they will suffer verbal abuse (immature at best) from you?
I think you have some good points to make...normally I like to read them if there is little or no ranting. But that is a rare post from you.

Now Mr. Butterworth is on to something. 100% dead on the money.
but I have to ask, any relation to Mrs. Butterworths????
Roscoe is right again.
My main concern is Iran. They haven't exactly been oblique in there intentions and the Israelis aren't ones to sit around and wait to be hit.

And here's one that gets little coverage. Talk about being hoist by your own petard.....
Syria and Iran are cooperating on efforts to add WMD to missiles, according to this news report from Jane's Defence Weekly.
Proof of cooperation between Iran and Syria in the proliferation and development of weapons of mass destruction was brought to light Monday in a Jane's Defence Weekly report that dozens of Iranian engineers and 15 Syrian officers were killed in a July 23 accident in Syria.
According to the report, cited by Channel 10, the joint Syrian-Iranian team was attempting to mount a chemical warhead on a Scud missile when the explosion occurred, spreading lethal chemical agents, including sarin nerve gas.
Reports of the accident were circulated at the time; however, no details were released by the Syrian government, and there were no hints of an Iranian connection.
The report comes on the heels of criticism leveled by the Syrians at the United States, accusing it of spreading "false" claims of Syrian nuclear activity and cooperation with North Korea to excuse an alleged Israeli air incursion over the country this month.
No amount of wishing is going to make their efforts to try to attack Israel with such weapons. I so fear that we're going to wake up one day with the story of a missile attack releasing sarin or some other chemical on Jerusalem.

Guys: I not angry at Stever per se. I'm fed up with guys like him and bleeding heart libs. If guys like him get their way we are in major trouble.
I think I know how the "greatest generation" would handle Syria, Iran and their like. I wish we could have those guys come back and help us.
We need it.

I think it is interesting to note the personal attacks and insults against me just for voicing a contrary opinion. It's something I am very used to on this board, and I usually respond in kind when so addressed.
Thanks for the defence, Mike. I'm going to do my best to refrain from treating Evan the same way he treated me.
Evan,
I find it interesting that you commented on the Israelis turning the land into something useful. Do I have the right to take your land if you are not doing anything useful with it? I am very much against the recent trend of our governments taking land from residential property owners and giving it to developers. Or do I only have the right to take your land if I am Jewish and you are not? It was not right when the Nazis did it to the Jews, and it was not right when the Jews did it to the Arabs.
Are you at all upset by the level of immigration going on here in the US? How do you think the Arabs felt in the very early part of the last century when Herzl and the rest of them were moving to Palestine?
Did you know that Uganda and part of Bavaria were offered to the Jews as a homeland and were turned down? The Jews back then (and also England and France) cared nothing for those 'dirty-toed bastards' who already had deeds and inheritance rights to the land in Palestine. They figured that they would just move the locals out of the way.
In answer to what the 'greatest generation' might have done - are you familiar with the King-Crane commission? It might be a bit early, but I think it gives a general idea of the direction that American ideas about land ownership were pointed. This, despite the 'Jewish Problem' in the US at the time, as perceived by many Americans back then. Our bigger concern was for the then-current inhabitants of the most densely populated area in the ME. We actually wanted the Zionist movement to slow down its relocation to Palestine so as not to upset the locals. At least someone back then was thinking clearly.
Also, go look up the Haganah, the Irgun and the Stern Gang. These are among the original terrorist groups started in the ME, and they are all Jewish. People in these groups would take sniper shots at innocent Arabs going about their day to day activities in an effort to get the Arabs to leave. Bus bombings were also carried out by these Jewish terrorists.
Many Jews trying to escape the persecution in Europe were not allowed to come to the US, partly because of sentiment against the terrorist actions by Jews in Palestine. Now Israel is fighting exactly the kind of war that they started. As you sow...
I am sorry that the Jews were treated as they were regarding the holocaust. I would never treat any Jew badly simply because he was a Jew, even when they call me a schmuck. I also do not treat any Arab badly simply because he is an Arab. Your rant regarding those 'dirty toed antisemtic bastards', however, makes you look just as racist as those anti-Jew ones are. Personally, I think that makes you, and people like you, part of the problem. Should you be hunted down and killed because you are just as unreasonable as idiots like bin Laden? Unfortunately, it seems as though the same 'Israels poop don't stink' attitude posessed by you is also very commonplace in the US. Until we either look at the truth of the situation, or decide that the history is irrelevant and that they all suck, we will never make any progress over there. Oh, and does it concern you that Israel has the second most powerful lobby in the US? It concerns me that any of our politicians feel obligated to any group that is actively representing another country.
Iran and Syria have both been threatend by the US (including a possible first strike nuke attack). They have seen what happens to a country (Iraq and Afghanistan) without WMD. While I am not comfortable with the idea of them having WMD, I don't blame them for trying to develop WMD in their own defense. It is exactly what I would do if I were them, as I already know that not having them would not save my country.
Steve

The only reason that israel is so well developed is because we pump tens of billions of dollars in there every year with no payback. If it werent for that, israel would be in the same third world condition as the rest of the arab countries.
What was ever invented there??? What do they manufacture?? Been to any good israely restaurants lately?? Seen any famous architecture or art?????

I do trust our troops are trying to protect the US. I do not trust everything I hear that Washington is doing the same. Call it a conspiracy theory, I don't care but I myself would rather be safe than sorry.

Mike: Yeah, I guess it was a little gruff.
I think it was his suggestion we attack Israel too that got me going. So in the interest of playing nice (not a hallmark for this site) please edit "remove your head from your ass and open your eyes" to "remove your head from where the sun doesn't shine and open your eyes"
Sorry to have ruffled any feathers.
