100% effective fence!
and so far, 100% efficient!
There are actually 4 wire fences in this picture. The short one, right in front of the car. The two tall fences topped with razor wire on the other side of the guntower. And one in between those two, carrying 15,000 volt's!
It's the one in the middle that does all the damage! I think a few solar panels down along the border should be pretty self-sufficient.
We have yet to loose one thru an electric fence. Can you say 0% illegal immigration!
Fill the guntowers with all of those returning Vet's!

Is that a border fence?
BTW, have you all noted in the media about the folks coming down from Canada for medical care? The one story that sticks out in recent memory is of a couple pregnant with quintuplets. Some place like Dakota or Idaho? Ok its Montana:
http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/sco...try-give-birth
Seems very few if any Americans are streaming north to Canada except for goverment subsidized prescription meds. Oh, and thank the Canuck tax payers for that. Gotta be happy about that one!

It could be!
It's a prison fence, at Folsom Prison!
I work there. We like to think of it as a 'gated community'!
Pretty secure parking, don't you think?

You see, I would not be opposed to a "charged" fence for the border (both of them). But such a fence would only be charged for entry, not exit. I might make an exception for Canada. There are some good folks up there trapped in a silly socialist system that could only add to our country in a positive way. But I still prefer legal immigration. So what the heck, apply the voltage regardless. But, in this country, that would not pass muster because of literacy issues. Seems some folks do not understand international symbols of danger.
BTW, I used to love Canada back in the days of Reagan and Mulroony (sp? sorry). There was a time when Canada believed it shared common goals of democracy and security. But the ivory tower builders won out. But I do hold out hope on this. If only would could clone Reagan, Mulroony, and Thatcher.

I thought you were going to be silent? I prefer that in you. He just doesn't know when to quit and SHUT THE HELL UP about Canada!!!
Dude enough already, go start a "I hate Canada thread" or purchase a personality. You better be careful when you spread hate about a country.
Jamo, is there nothing you can say to him?
For the record about people going to the US for medical treatment, why not do a bit of research and look into how many Doctors in USA are Canadian and specialists at that. We lost a hell of a lot in the past few years because our govt put a cap on salaries. So our best went south.
Now show me your best Helen Keller or Marcel Marceau...lol jack ass!

Jamo,
Not original but yet biased and expected. Next time hostages get rescued in Iran from the Canadian embassy play that and feel remorse.

You sir, have no idea what is happening in the US with illegal immigration.
Mike
PS: Btw, I take a small amount of offense at your indirect suggestion (by blithely posting that stupid video) that Americans who support the fence and border control are racist. But then again, it was your suggestion. So what does that say about your inclinations?
|
Mike,
Rather than dismantle any argument he was making you made personal comments to him regarding what he knows or does not know. If you think the facts are distorted, fine...tell him why and offer what you think are the correct facts. You also took the first offense, and make implications about his inclinations. And that is reading it with an open mind. If I were him then I would consider you fair game to make personal responses back (and he did).

Venamm,
Mike took the first swing at you, but you took the first swing at Scott with your comment that he must be related to Mike. That is not a good way to intruduce yourself to the forum. As for 'kind' - well - I can be quite tenacious when it comes to an argument and some do not view me as 'kind' as a result of that. I do make an effort to keep my discussions about the argument, and not make personal comments, though I will usually respond in kind if personal comments are made to me.
How about everybody knock it off and get back to illegals and fences before we get the thread shut down?
Steve

Colorado HB 1023--a new and tough anti-illegal-immigration law in Colorado--will require tens of thousands in Colorado to prove they are legal residents before receiving certain government services. The new law, passed this month, is the toughest in the country.
This, I hope, will spread....
|
Yep, some may view it as harsh, but it really is the direction we need to go. They also passed some other ones including HB1017. One of the drawbacks to this one is that it tends to let employers off the hook for hiring illegals unless the situation is really over the top.
We really need to go at this from a variety of different directions. This administration and this and the last Congress really just don't get it.

Steve,
I agree with your assessment of the bill they passed and that employers have to be made accountable for hiring illegals. But the one problem that I see right now is that the unions have caused the labor costs here to be so high that many small businesses just can't pay everything the unions demand. I agree that law isn't harsh at all and that we need to go a lot farther. But I don't know of any way that the problem can be solved soon as we have waited to long to decide to close the gates. And for crying out loud, don't get us barred from Canada, as I may need to move there for health care.

Ok, now that you have proved you don't care about anything but your opinion, how about explaining why people like me who happen to believe in God should just roll over and pretend that you are the ultimate authority on everything? You have a right to be anti religious, but to state that religion is CRAP is pushing it a little far. And also when did you start paying taxes in Oklahoma?
Ron

Ron,
Wrong thread, but ok...
I have put up with many years of being insulted by religious folks and I probably tend to view most religions as fair game. There are certain aspects of religions that I do think are crap, but there are are some good elements to religions as well.
Feel free to do whatever you want with your religion, but you have no right to expect me to contribute towards it. And my taxes here in MA have contributed towards religious displays on public land. And anything that I am forced to pay for but do not want to pay for falls into the definition of crap as far as I am concerned.

A fence across the boarder is a silly idea to deal with the problem. Right up there with building a piranha infested moat. So long as we keep providing them with incomes, social services, ignoring expired visas, etc... regardless of what we put up, they will find a way around it (or over, or under, or...). Of course the other way to look at it is so long as Mexico is not providing those things for them, they will keep coming. Hmm.

And BTW...anybody here really know what the current enforcement policies of ICE are concerning the employment of illegal aliens? Are you folks aware of the new no-match regulations which are being tested in court? Anybody read IRCA? (and no...it's not a type of whale) Anyone know what the concept of federal preemption is and what it has to do with state laws in such areas as immigration?
Please feel free to Google your asses off.
I deal with this stuff every day...doing a seminar in Napa for the wine industry tomorrow on this exact subject as a matter of fact...and I remain quiet while you assperts throw darts at the side of a barn hoping to hit something.
But it does keep me laughing, and that's a good thing.
