Exclamation Brit car is coming back

Hi Folks,
In respects to our Cobra heritage here is a Britt car tid bit.
I sold my TR6 recently after many years of owning. Well my knowledge on the car came with owning and I still visit the Triumph forum to say hi to friends. Well the huge topic and discussion since I sold was amazing.

In a nut shell it seems Triumph (the car name not bike) is coming back. Great just after I sold mine. When the chinese auto makers announced that they were bringing back MG to the world someone jumped on Triumph to compete. That someone was.....the same people who brought us the little spunky Britt car the Mini...yup BMW just purchased Triumph.

They have already sort of speak leaked a image of the car. My colleagues are a little disappointed that it looks like a Pontiac Solstice or a Saturn Sky.
Have a look...

So how long will it be before someone brings back the 1956 Crown Victoria?

I liked the original British Sports cars and always wished I could have had a Sunbeam Tiger with the Shelby 289 in it. A guy here had one and that car ran like you wouldn't believe. They have British Sports Car Club somewhere around here and they all showed up at one of the car/air shows a few years ago. Talk about some really great restored old cars. And they all had the little caps and dusters or whatever they call the driving clothes they word back in those days,

The Brit car clubs that I know lets just say are very different then say this gathering of great folks. For the most part all swell, but very very anal about concourse, and not afraid to approach you and your car at a show and shine cruise to inform you that you have the wrong bolt on your car....lol Crusty stuffy goggle wearing types. One of the reasons I left is they do little driving and spend more time under the hood (because they had too).

That was precisely why I enjoyed the British Car club at the show. Most of the owners were from Britain and the cars were exactly as they were when built. Crusty would be a mild term for a couple of them, but they were friendly and enjoyed answering my questions once they decided I wasn't there to try and pick apart their cars.

exactly,
They always have a guard up when someone approaches them with a question. They really do feel that they are going to be drilled on proper specs and they do it to each other like a roast...lol Its a sick twisted cult. I just loved my car and i sold it to a very good friend (I broke a rule) so I get conjugal visits.

You should have said earlier that you liked TR-6's.

I own a "72" with a Moss Supercharger.

You are not entirely the d*ick you make out to be..

Scott,
I think that's a compliment. Maybe you can develop a nice guy attitude if you stop hanging around the likes of Mike.

Mine was a Mimosa yellow 73. I will get another one once my snake is built. The one I let go needed a frame off rebuild. So what made you go super charge rather then triple Weber's or even a 302?

1st car..62 MGA 1300
3rd car ..66 Tiger 260
last car hopefully Cobra replica 289... combo of the two I think...

Had a MGB come in a few months ago that I built a custom dual exhaust. He came back last week with the same car, and it had a 221 Buick V-8. Sweet install too. I connected his new down pipes to the rest of the system. I will try, and load the pics of the engine compartment next week.

The one I have now is in very nice condition and came with webers, I just liked the thought of doing something a little different and added the SC.

It really woke the little roadster up!

As soon as I finish the Daytona Coupe I plan to find another TR and stick a 289-302 in. I am starting to gather a few bits pieces now.

Venamm,

Tuckers, MBZ, 55 Chrysler Ghia, Rolls, BMW, Jensens, Healeys, and just about anything else including some beat up Chebbies. All these were everyday jobs in my shop in San Francisco for nearly 2 decades.

I don't know if you could call me a specialist, or not. I will say this though. I am like an old whore....I've been around..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A good pal of mine belongs to the elusive and exclusive TR6 with V8s.
I can hook you up with him. He is a bit of an expert in the transition. He has a awesome red 74 with a 302. Google his name

Wow,
Great. looking for a header kit (Do they exist) with different elbows and stuff. Rather then getting it custom bent. The headers I have shoot out to soon and I don't want to cut and weld where the headers web together...

Also,
What do they call that exhaust that gives the driver the ability to control the tone and decibel loudness,...expensive?

You can buy flanges, and yes mandrel pre-bent pipe is available. I have never built a header, but I am sure it is like anything else new. The first one takes forever, and the second one the time is cut in half. The third even less than that.

I think I went to Hooker Headers, and found flanges. Some with a stub already welded on, and some just the bare flange. When this new shop can finally justify buying a kit. I am undecided if I will go the easy route, and purchase the header built for the kit, or make my own. It was not cheap to purchase the parts to build a header. You will save some money, but the time doing trial and error may not be justified?

I have installed many of the electronic gates that by-pass the muffler. Also there was a muffler that had a straight through side, and a baffled side with the electronic gate. I don't know the cost, because customers bring them into me for installation.

VENAMM, I finally got the pics of the MGB with the V-8. I can't resize them, but they are in my gallery if you want to see?

Ron,

like a dumby I opened my big flap before I loaded the pics, and now I can't get them in. I deleted 3 in hopes to load 3 more, but that didn't work

How big are the pictures that you are trying to load. Don't pay any attention to that no size limit as it is incorrect. I load mine in the 70 to 180kb range.
