Need a computer expert's help

Computer is an older one running Windows Pro
It seems like every other day I have to run Regcure to get rid of problems..

1. getting 30-50 file path references problems

2. 100 ++ empty registry items..

What causes these and can I prevent them from re-acuring constantly..

I have AVG free anti-virus installed and AT&T firewall as provided from internet provider..
I forgot also how to check & see what programs are running on computer. ??

I'll give a quick answer...then move this to the off-topic area.

RegCure is not exactly one of the most accurate programs.
In fact, some authorities have categorized it as a "virus" or "PUP"

PUPs are programs that, due to their features or means of distribution,
can affect users' consent, awareness or control over operations like:

Installation.
Modifications carried out on the computer.
Behavior of the program.
Processing of personal data.
Uninstallation.

I would unload it and deal with your issues in another manner.

RegCure tends to cause things, then detect them, then warn you, then ask for money, then remove things.
