I almost completely severed the index finger on my right hand April 4, 1980 which just happened to be Good Friday. A friend and I were putting in a floor in my basement. We started at 8:00AM and the accident happened when I was cutting the last piece of wood about 12 hours later. We were just about finished, I was tired, and I didn't pay attention for a split second.
I was lucky as Dr Rollin Daniels who was considered to be one of the best micro surgeons in the world at the time, reattached it. It has neven given me much trouble but it sure would have been nice if the blade had that safety device. $150 is nothing compared to all of upset caused by this type of accident. If you notice, I never mentioned pain as it really didn't hurt much at all but it sure was messy.
