I really take issue with this comment, although I think you make some informed and thoughtful points in the body of your post.
You are obviously ignorant of the process by which Canada became a nation. This highlights one of the main issues that the rest of the world has with the US. The apparent disregard and dismissal of anything existing outside the US borders. In todays world this does not work.
In many ways the isolationist attitude and damn the rest of the world approach by the previous administrations has fostered the current problems with terrorism. Canada and Europe have also contributed so I'm not saying the blame lies soley with the US. The US and Canada are more similar to each other than any other nations. Most Europeans can't tell a Texan from an Albertan. Frankly, I'd welcome an American perspective on our elections. We are less than enthusiastic about the slate of candidates running.

Andrew

That just shows the Europeans aren't nearly as "Worldly" as they would like people to believe.

True...
But I bet the majority of people in Liechtenstein know Bush is the current President and Obama is the next.

Well lets see. A bunch of French fur trappers came over, intermarried with the Indians, killed and skinned everything in sight and sent the skins back to Europe. Then the British came in and became disgusted because people were speaking French so they got in a fight with them and kicked their ass. A bunch of the French people got together and formed the cities of Montreal and Quebec so that they could cause everlasting trouble for the British because they kicked their ass. The British then rounded up all the French in Nova Scotia and sent them to Louisianna to become "coon asses". The British then decided to pick a fight with the "Colonials". Unfortunately the British got their asses kicked. The "Colonials" then rounded up all of the "Tories" and shipped them off to Canada where they would then become everlasting trouble for the "Colonials" by sponging off them and commenting on their political structure and culture. The fight continues to this day as the "Tories" are pissed because the "Colonials" just don't care what they think. The Tories are also jealous because the "Colonials" have larger appendages .
The End.

Thank you.
Luckily I have relatives up on the Peace River in Alberta. They filled me in on all the parts about what a pain in the ass the French are.
