The Financial Services Modernisation Act was a GOP bill - sponsored by Phil Gramm (one of McCains primary economic advisors, BTW). The first vote was primarily GOP for, DNC against. Revisions were made so that the DNC would vote in favour. The final vote was 90-8 in the Senate and 362-57 in the House. Clinton signed because the Congressional vote was veto-proof. I'm no fan of Clinton, but pinning the blame on him is just not accurate.

A tea party sounds lovely!
Will this be a black tie affair?
May I invite my freinds?

Whoa, boy! Too many of you watch waaaay too much Fox news. You ever think that the "mainstream media" with it's many outlets might more accurately protray what's going on than the one, lone outlet of Fox news? Just as a reality check, Fox news reported that McBush (oops, sorry, force of habit), er ah, I mean McCain won the second debate 86% to Obama's 14%. Check those numbers in November to see what really happened.
I, for one, am a Cobra owner that makes well over $30k who supports Obama. There is no way I want another flatulent four years of George W. McPalin policies running this country further into the ground---who would need to sell the house to move to a third-world country with more of the same? The US would devolve into a third-world country...
And if you must watch Fox to get your news, then read between the lines of The Colbert Report and perhaps The John Stewart show. Entertaining AND informative.
Okay, go ahead and go back to shouting "Terrorist" and "He's gonna take my guns" (which, incidentally, he won't. Many sportmen support Obama.)
My name is DD, and I support this message.

They're fools.
Look at his voting record.
Against the Second Amendment, and private ownership of guns every time.
Listen to what he has said over the years on the matter, it's nothing like that phrase he favors when he says he supports "sensible" gun laws.
Sensible?
Do you have a clue what the "sensible" gun laws are like in Chicago, or the state of Illinois?
He was critical of, and spoke out against the Heller decision overturning the gun ban in D.C.
He's like nailing Jello to a tree when an actual firm position is warranted.
He'll commit to nothing beyond generalities and platitudes, and this includes guns.
I challenge you to go out there into the wilds of the internet and find a single substantive quote from him in support of gun rights.
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean nobody is after my guns.

Those Fox polls are text message polls from the viewing audience, nice try though in trying to say they were official.
You have got to be kidding with Colbert and Stewart right? They are liberal comedians not news shows reporting facts.
As far as the second amendment is concerned Obama is on record supporting stricter laws on gun ownership. No legitimate pro gun organization supports obama. There is a group out there that puts itself out there as a pro Obama gun ownership organization, but it is a scam. If you look behind the group they are a bunch of liberals trying to pull membership from the NRA. Who does the NRA support? They are over 2 million strong and the real voice for gun owners.
We lost gun rights under Clinton and Obama's views are much worse. Luckily the federal ban that Clinton instituted expired under Bush and I was able to by some firearms that we illegal under the Clinton regime. If Obama gets elected I am sure we will get some great new federal gun laws worse than Clinton imposed.
Another liberal spinning the truth. I guess I should not be suprised.

You guys crack me up. Only liberals spin the truth? I guess that makes George W. Bush a liberal?
And QUITE a liberal, at that, (given your standards).
And yes, I was aware of the FOX-watcher text voting. FOX proclaimed it as a victory for McCain (or George W. McPalin) based upon their received text votes. Obviously, more an indication of their viewership than anything else, but FOX portrayed it as much more.
On Colbert and Stewart, of course their comedians. The tongue-in-cheek "reporting" makes steady pokes at the "conservative right". So, if you must watch FOX, at least watch Colbert/Stewart to balance the Rah-Rah Republicanism of FOX news.
I'm not worried about my guns and Obama winning. In my mind, "sensible gun laws" make sense, providing "sensible" is indeed sensible.

No use in trying to reason with a koolaid drinking liberal telling half truths at best.
BTW, What kind of guns do you own? Your sensible gun law statement is right out of the liberal talking points. My guess is you don't own any guns.

Here is a good read for you, but I suspect you will disregard it as conservative lies.

S&W .357 Magnum, and a hunting rifle my father gave me. My father-in-law has some cool vintage guns he wants to give me. One is a 22 pistol that straps to your wrist (presummably, up the sleeve). Sorry, no automatic assault rifles or military canons---those wouldn't be "sensible".
So, you don't even know me and you're calling me a liar? ("half-truths at best") Don't you think that seems a little "extreme"? Seems you're the one that has difficulty with logic and reason...

Trying to pass off a text poll as an Official Fox news poll is a half truth. Saying that Obama is pro second amendment is a lie. Look at his voting record and comments concerning gun ownership.
BTW, Do you know what an assault rifle actually is? The liberals try to scare the sheeple by telling them that any military "looking" weapon is an assualt rifle, which it is not. It is already illegal to own an assault rifle unless you have a class 3 FFL.
I own military style weapons that operate exactly the same as your "hunting rifle", but because they look like a military rifle the liberals want to scare the public into thinking they should not be legal.
If you want to stick to your "sensible" theory I don't think a Cobra would fall under that category. Would you like someone that knows nothing about cars trying to make your Cobra illegal because it's not sensible? It's the same argument you and other liberals are using to try and take away my second amendment rights.

Like I said, Fox presented the poll as "results", not me. I also observed MSNBC reporting "two for two" for Obama after the second debate. I'm not buying either result.
I don't get conservative extremists. They're so worried about someone imposing restrictions on their rights that they're attacking people they know nothing about. I find that odd.
I think you'll find over Obama's presidency---assuming he's elected---that your worst fears and doubts never materialized, and that your fears had been played upon by the political right.
Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt. It worked for George W. Bush, but I don't think it will work for McCain. I think the American people have had enough.
