Default 'O'NO!' was an ACORN instructor....!!!!!

'O'NO! instructed ACORN employees to intimidate banks for sub prime loans, the banks said they were only allowed a limited number because fannie mae and freddie mac would only insure a limited number of sub prime loans. Then, they lobbied the 'dumacrats' to force mac and mae to increase the number of sub prime loans!. Results!...your in it........

Mr. Obama served on the boards of two charitable foundations in Chicago, the Woods Fund and the Joyce Foundation. According to The New York Times, Mr. Obama's memberships on those foundation boards, "allowed him to help direct tens of millions of dollars in grants" to various liberal organizations, including the Chicago ACORN, "whose endorsement Mr. Obama sought and won in his state Senate race."

Mr. Obama's repeated calls for reform and integrity in government obviously excludes the street politics and hooligan tactics of ACORN. His campaign and the Democratic Party have adopted an "anything goes to win the presidency" attitude. The absence of major news media coverage of Mr. Obama's relationship with ACORN is equally distressing.

Three weeks folks!, no way can we allow the socialist 'O'NO!, to get in.........

Perry,
You are focusing on the wrong thing. It really does not matter homw many sub-prime mortgages were written. It is more important that those mortgages are then bundled and sold as prime because of the lack of regulation. They are then covered by insurance, and then when people start defaulting on those loans those 'prime' bundles suddenly get downgraded, and the people holding them (banks, 401Ks, IRAs, etc) are left holding the bag, until they file for the insurance coverage. And then the insurance company is left holding the bag (or they go under, and then the bank goes under).
There is a lot of blame to spread around on this - the Dems encouraged it so that they could get more people into homes that really could not afford it (DNC base), the GOP encouraged it (look up Phil Gramm - happens to be one of McCains 'advisors' (well, he 'retired' and now is 'consulted'), and one of the handful principals behind a lot of deregulation in the first place) so their banker buddies (GOP base) could get rich.

A number of people in both parties deserve plenty of blame. Yet, somehow - you still think that GOP poo don't stink. Take a good whiff - your party helped cause this mess.

VRM's second paragraph sums up this whole mess very well.

If the media won't run with the story, then why dosen't McCain hammer away at this during the debates?

Wayne,
Because McCain knows that the whole thing really started with the Financial Services Modernization Act (also known as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act named for 3 GOP Congresscritters - Gramm being one of McCains primary economic advisers).

Perry,
Greenspan even said that it was not the selling of the subprimes as that has been happening for 30 years, it was the packaging them into securities (MBS) and selling them with a lower risk rating than they should have. This is a result of deregulation from that act, as well as banks trying to make extra money by not doing their due diligence. Despite what ACORN did, nobody forced the banks into selling the mortgages into MBS.

Obama's campaign website states:

Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.

Is that really a FACT, or just another lie? Let's take a look at a quote from a 2004 article - Case Study: Chicago- The Barack Obama Campaign - written by Toni Foulkes, a Chicago ACORN Leader, which was published in the journal Social Policy. Did we mention that Social Policy recently pulled this particular article from their website, while leaving links to all other articles up?

"Obama took the case, known as ACORN vs. Edgar (the name of the Republican governor at the time) and we won. Obama then went on to run a voter registration project with Project VOTE in 1992 that made it possible for Carol Moseley Braun to win the Senate that year. Project VOTE delivered 50,000 newly registered voters in that campaign (ACORN delivered about 5,000 of them).

Since then, we have invited Obama to our leadership training sessions to run the session on power every year, and, as a result, many of our newly developing leaders got to know him before he ever ran for office. Thus it was natural for many of us to be active volunteers in his first campaign for STate Senate and then his failed bid for U.S. Congress in 1996. By the time he ran for U.S. Senate, we were old friends."

Not only does Foulkes boast of Obama's ACORN leadership training, but also makes it clear that Obama's post-law school organizing of "Project VOTE" in 1992 was undertaken in direct partnership with ACORN. The tie between Project VOTE and ACORN is also something that Obama and others have attempted to disprove in recent weeks as ACORN has come under fire for allegations of voter registration fraud.

As recently as March 2008, the Los Angeles Times also made reference to Barack Obama's involvement with ACORN:

"At the time, Talbot worked at the social action group ACORN and initially considered Obama a competitor. But she became so impressed with his work that she invited him to help train her staff." (LA Times, March 2, 2008)

All this information was easily pulled up with minimal time investment. It took less than thirty minutes to find, despite attempts by some to bury the truth. If I could find this with little effort, imagine what could be dug up with a serious, in-depth investigation. Scary, isn't it?

Nevertheless, Barack Obama's campaign website continues to lie and deny the truth about his involvement and association with ACORN. No matter how many times you say it, it does not make it true. The facts do not lie, Senator Obama. It's time to come clean and tell the truth, and it's time for the American people to demand it.

Interestingly, my buddy Ron Paul introduced the Free Housing Market Enhancement Act H.R.3071 back in 2003 (when the GOP was still in control, BTW), but it was buried in a committee. This act would have prevented a bailout, would have limited the levels of investing in the Freddies by outside sources, and almost eliminated lending to people who could not afford to pay the loan. It pretty much would have prevented this whole mess, but then a bunch of GOP bankers would not have gotten rich, and a bunch of DNC welfare cases would not have bought houses.

Barney Frank has consistently favored Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac 'forcing' banks and other lending institutions to underwrite loans for people who couldn’t afford them. There's your 'frank force' steve.........

In 2005, the Republicans passed a bill to increase regulations of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which was voted against by the Democratic members. The bill wasn’t put on the floor for a vote because the Republicans knew they couldn’t get 60 votes to pass the bill.

Perry,
I'm not going to defend Frank, as I think that the SNL skit portyaying him was entirely too kind.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21097872/

I was paraphrasing Greenspan, which is why I did not use quotes.
I read the entire transcript of the interview a few weeks ago. You may want to do the same before you make accusations you can't support.

I really find it interesting that you like to accuse people of making things up when you clearly don't have even a basic grasp of the facts yourself.

Frank and Dodd both fought oversight on Fannie and Freddie. Read my post above about Frank's relationship with Fannie. Frank needs to be investigated.

BTW, MSNBC is not the best source for accurate news IMO...

SP,
I agree that there needs to be some investigation done, though I would prefer some bi-partisan tar and feathering. I can't stand Frank either, but he is not the only one to blame. I live in MA, and I I don't know anybody that will admit to voting for him.

And I agree that MSNBC is not the best source - neither is Fox, WorldNetDaily or MoveOn. In this case I could not find the website with the BBC interview transcript that I read a few weeks ago, and this was the best that I could do. If Perry wants to try and prove me wrong (he can't) he can find it himself (he won't - he would rather resort to unfounded accusations).

Frank should be investigated and put on trial if the evidence is there. He was the Chair of the house finance commitee while having a homosexual relationship with an executive at Fannie it about 2005. There was a conflict of interest at the very least, but I think it could easily be criminal if evidence is found that favors were done by Frank because of his relationship.

Chris Dodd should be investigated as well IMO. BTW, I am a conservative independent. I quite the Republican party a long time ago. I can't stand politicians that look out for their interest while they screw the people. This country needs to be taken back. My.02

Actually, not true - you forgot about the "Bradley Effect." Plus, traction on Ayers is blowing up the surveys - it's not over until the fat lady sings or Tony Rezko.

This is just part of an e-mail that I recieved and I in no way am claiming it it true or false. But since there are so many different places, including some of Obama's own people that are now starting to try and distance themselves from ACORN I thought I would post it. All the usual discalimers are herby invoked by me.

What does Obama know about ACORN fraud?
posted at 7:55 am on October 9, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Send to a Friend | printer-friendly
Investors Business Daily asks what Barack Obama knows about the epidemic of voter fraud in ACORN, and it's not an unfair question. Not only has Obama publicly endorsed ACORN, he has paid them at least $800,000 for their services, an amount that he didn't immediately disclose until pressed. ACORN has responded in kind, with their voter-registration efforts that have resulted in criminal investigations in more than a dozen states:

For starters, Obama paid ACORN, which has endorsed him for president, $800,000 to register new voters, payments his campaign failed to accurately report. (They were disguised in his FEC disclosure as payments to a front group called Citizen Services Inc. for "advance work.")

What's more, Obama worked as executive director of ACORN's voter-registration arm, Project Vote, in 1992. Joined by two other community organizers on Chicago's South Side, Obama conducted the voter-registration drive that helped elect Carol Moseley-Braun to the Senate that year.

The next year, 1993, Obama joined the civil-rights law firm Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland, where he sued the state of Illinois on behalf of ACORN to implement the federal "Motor Voter" law, which the GOP governor at the time refused to do. Then-Gov. Jim Edgar argued, presciently, that the Clinton law would invite voter fraud.

Obama downplays his ties to ACORN, and his campaign denies coordinating with ACORN to register voters.

For a man with a short track record, Barack Obama spends a lot of time disassociating himself from political partners. He spent most of the campaign misrepresenting his years-long working relationship with William Ayers, the unrepentant domestic terrorist of the Weather Underground and a man who still wants the overthrow of the capitalist economic system in the US. Now he wants to hide his work over two decades with an organization that should be looking at the business end of a federal RICO prosecution.

IBD outlines the scope of their criminal behavior, and Michelle gives us the details:

Missouri - Officials now have to sift through hundreds of bogus applications submitted last August.
Connecticut - A criminal investigation has been opened into ACORN fraud.
Wisconsin - Registering convicted felons.
Ohio - ACORN tells Cuyahoga County's election board that they can't stop themselves from committing fraud.
Indiana - Over a thousand new applications from ACORN appear to investigators to be fraudulent, and that should be no surprise, since Indianapolis now has 105% of its population registered to vote.
In Nevada, officials seemed surprised by the news that the Dallas Cowboys had moved en masse to the Silver State. The entire starting lineup registered to vote in Nevada, including Tony Romo, their quarterback. However, Secretary of State Ross Miller assured Nevadans that anyone posing as Terrell "TO" Owens would get a big NO if they tried to cast a vote.

Barack Obama helped run an ACORN unit, represented them as an attorney, and is now a client of ACORN. He needs to answer for their fraudulent tactics. His money helped fuel the organization, after all, and there is little doubt that they are working on his behalf. Their fraud intends to get him elected President. Will he denounce it, and demand prosecution? Or will he keep pretending that he doesn't know them?

Update: The New York Post notes the nationwide pattern of fraud as well:

Let every vote count, is the Democratic Party's mantra these days. That slogan might better be: Let every vote count as often as we need to win.

Such, at any rate, are the tactics of ACORN, Barack Obama's favorite "community organizers," and its Project Vote - of which, the Democratic presidential candidate has boasted, "I started working as the director . . . here in Chicago."

ACORN has been implicated in voter-fraud schemes in 15 states - including Ohio, from where The Post's Jeane MacIntosh reports today that a Board of Elections investigation has unearthed evidence of widespread voter fraud.

Hey, you know who else funds these fraudsters? You do. Congress sends them money every year, usually for housing assistance.

Now more than ever we need the protection of our Armed Forces and MR. OBAMA wants to cut down the resources to our Military, in the HOPE (there is the favorite word of the democrats in this campaign again) that our enemies, will abandon their extermination plans! SOME HOPE!

I do not care about HOPE, I want CERTAINTY! Now more than ever we need a man with MILITARY experience in the White House, a strong MAN that can protect US!

Not a man with NO military experience, and a WELL KNOWN AFFINITY TOWARD, RADICALS, MARXISM, AND RADICAL ISLAM!

Sir, there is nothing IRRELEVANT about the Ayers, the Wrights, the Khalids, the Farrakhan, and the large numbers of Marxists and Muslim radicals that has orbited around Obama, with his blessing and his approval.

Sir, these people HATE AMARICANS, THEY ARE CRIMINALS, THEY ARE OBAMAS FRIENDS AND THEY WILL CONTINUE TO CONSPIRE UNDER HIS ADMINISTRATION, TO EXTERMINATE US . It is NOT that you don't see this danger, YOU PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS DANGER

Ron
