I would prefer to see a candidate for President act like he has a fantastic grasp of the issues and the facts regarding them. McCain has not really done that (neither has Obama). So is McCain going to go study extra hard?

Are you sure that you're not a post turtle? Also, what planet are you from, originally? Character issues do matter. Therefore, it gets a little heated when associations require discussion - it's important to know who a potential POTUS runs with - Obama is winning because of the very reason I think he is unqualified--he is a ManChild. He has this "I'm innocent" rap which he manages to pull off while "looking you in the eye" ala Clinton and "I want you to listen to me." And people fall for it because he is a blank canvas on which they have painted a picture, and they WANT it to be true. People like you.

CdC,
Post turtle? Y'know - I really get a chuckle when you and a few others on this forum dig up some phrase as the be-all-end-all insult for whomever disagrees with you at the moment and chant it like a mantra (post turtle, post turtle, post turtle) until you think you've won your argument. In reality, all it gets you is a reputation for a lack of imagination and individual thought.

Associations do matter - McCain usually favoured the policies of the guy who managed to double our national debt in less than 8 years. And BTW, your ASSociation with Bush (you defend his policies) certainly undermines any claim you may think you have to making sound judgments instead of just following the lemmings/sheeple over the cliff. I just wish you would stop dragging the rest of the country with you.

Steve

CDC, don't waste your time arguing with him, he's a lame fence sitter with no allegiance to anything. His claim to fame is being (in his words) 'contrary'.

Perry,
The short version: I grew up reading more books by English authors than American ones, and as a result my spelling on a lot of words tends to favour the English variant. My parents did not realise that the books I was reading (mostly sent to me by my grandparents - one of whom was stationed in England) had 'errors' in them. By the time my teachers discovered this it was already too late.
'Favoured' is the correct spelling for the majority of the English speaking world.

I do go back and forth on 'tyre/tire' though...

JT,
Nope. Most people are sheep and do what the others in their social group do. The same holds true for rich white guys.
