Default Are You Cutting Back?

In these less-than-stellar financial times, what things are you cutting back on? (IF any.) Trading steak dinners for McDonald's? Have to fire the cleaning lady? No more massages with "happy endings"? Halve the number of cigars smoked per week?

Luckily, I have rather inexpensive tastes, and I dont really have a lot of extravagances to cut back on, although I do tend to eat dinner out at some less-expensive places than I have been going to before.

How about You?

Well, I plan on cutting back as much as possible due to the stock market and my retirement income is now dwindling faster than a Chevy powered cobra.

I just changed my cell phone plan..saved $14.00, Changed my credit card to B of A for and interest free 12 months, will run regular gas in the jeep, and will attempt to stay under fifteen bucks for meals out. I also plan on taking the credit card away from my wife so she can't buy things online unless its something for me or the cobra...Hummm! Whatelse..is there?

Oh well...I guess I'll just keep on... keeping on....Life is good, Bill

I've been cutting back on everything and using the money to suck up as much stocks as I can buy.

I'm 20 some years from retirement and everything will rebound eventually.

We have cut back going out both weekends nights to staying home one night instead. We shop at a warehouse food store now. Plan on moving to NC very soon where things will be much cheaper than here in ct. Our property tax on our house in ct $6000.00 same house in NC. $700.00. I'm 60 and do not want to retire ever, will always be selling soemthing. Thank god i have 5 years to make up the 40% i have lost in my retirement accounts.Luckly have two good incomes and kids college paid for as they went. All we owe is for our house.

CUTTING BACK?

I never spent anything, but recently the better half of my retirement disappeared, and the economy is sucking my business dry. I am thinking of closing the doors, and sailing for the Philippines where the dollar can still buy you something, and just sailaway the rest of my life from island to island sunset to sunset.............i2f

I just recently lost mine (6 figures) job, and being single dad, I am sure cut back is a MUST for me

Kid's private school / mortgate / ect... will burn up my saving FAST

With preimium gas $2.53 in my area, I still can enjoy a bit of driving the cobra

That's ALL

Since the kids been in school, we been cutting back as much as we can.

May end up doing all of my own processing in the barn this year. Filled the wood barn all the way this year ( will be burning more wood than ever before ). Put up more food than we usually do. Cut back on what we are buying at the grocery store. Combined trips to save on gas. Put the Cobra into storage early ( just could not afford the insurance ). Took a second job.

I suppose you could call it cutting back.

As someone once told me ,you haven`t lost anything until you sell it . I haven`t had to sell anything yet as I have other sources of income ... but I still sneak a peek at my portfolio .
Haven`t really made any major adjustments as I have always lived well under my means , own everything free and clear and have no debt .
Did get rid of my land line and go with my cell exclusively , but I had been planning that for about 4 months and I plan my car/truck trips so I do everything at one time and not multiple trips , but otherwise , not much I can cut . Having said that ... I pretty much do what I want and go where I want when I want .
Being in the deep South , my cost of living is probably much less than in other areas , so I`m blessed in that regard .
