Anyone Like 53-54 Stubakers?
.... you must see Dennis Gage on My Classic Car. He visits Alaska to interview and drive a Studebaker that was built by Chip Foose back when he worked for Boyd Coddington.
OMG, what a car. I'm in love .... no, I'm in lust.

Boy, that is some improvement over the original design. Very nice and looks as if it has really been taken care of. You had better get busy on your 442 so you can get it on the show. He has did three or four shows around this area and one at Thunder Hill.

Warren, hard to believe...BUTT......
Here, in Pocasset (on ye Olde Cape Codde for ye non-Taxachusetts residents), on Barlow's Landing Road, halfway between Rte. 28 and County Road----there was a Stoody Hawk, with white-with-blue-stripe livery, a la Briggs Cunningham.
It was on the north side of Barlow's, sitting in a guy's driveway......just sitting there. Guy's prolly got it indoors. Didn't look in bad shape and it was LOWERED----with big Goodyears on
(it looked like) deep-dish chrome rims.
Ta-ta,

Stubs???, not really but, I sure would like to find (and buy) that 1940 ford pickup (mostly original) I've been looking for...someday....maybe...and no, I won't drive to SD to look at one.

I would love to convert one of the '53s to a two seat sports car. The top would get cut off completely. It would also need to be shortened (specifically the door and the area just behind it), and the belt line angle would need to be changed (or maybe the same length/angle kept, but it could be blended into the area behind the door like the '64 Mustang). I would also give it a small hood scoop like a Cal Spyder, and change the side vent to something a little more sporty. Give it some wire wheels, or maybe some Halibrand kidney-beans and a set of period Engleberts...
A local car show had a 'class of 1953' theme a few years ago and they had a bunch of cars (mostly American) from that year. Compared to a Chevy or Ford of the same era, the Stude looked positively hot!
