You sure are good at name calling names but very weak at providing a real argument. Stupid, nutback, loons, worked on the playground in 4th grade, but in 5th grade and beyond a more intelligent argument is expected. By the way your positions don't seem to be centrist.

Really? Did I call anybody a name?

It seems to me that from reading many of the political posts on here, many people hate America so much they want this stimulus bill to fail. Millions of people have lost their jobs, but hey! as long as Obama fails, it is all worth it. This is just as pathetic as listening to the far left rant for the last 4 years about Iraq and wanting Bush to fail. It is one thing to disagree, but another to wish failure.

That's the part that gets me. Most outsiders (like myself) find American patriotism inspiring, regardless of whether we are in agreement over any particular political issue or not. Many times we hear the line that if we loved our country as much as the Americans do theirs, we would become stronger and more progressive.

The expected post-election united we stand/divided we fall American solidarity seems to be increasingly displaced by a destructive partisan back-biting mentality that smacks of the typical Middle Eastern sectarian infighting and appears to place party and political idealogy above country. Hatred for Obama seems stronger than love of America and those who shout the loudest about being patriots appear to be praying for the nation to suffer and fall just so they can revel in his failure and find comfort in the vindication of their party-line dogma and rhetoric. No doubt, if McAin't and Sarah Failin' (wink!) had been chosen by the majority, non-patriots of another stripe would be doing the same bloody thing.

The US soldier blasting the Iraqi police in the other thread lambasted them for being more loyal to their sectarian affiliations than to their own country - Maybe when he's done over there, he can come home and take his show on the road for the benefit of the once proud and patriotic American people who stood before the world as a shining example of the gritty, work together, can-do stuff that made a nation great.

Buzz,

Sadly you are correct on most of your points. I don't like Obama, but I want him to succeed as the country is in desperate need and I don't care what party anyone belongs to if they can help get things straightened out. To many radicals on every side and not enough logical thinking. I don't care who gets the credit, I would just like to see things start to get better and if Obama can do this then I will be happy. But reading the stimulus package that even the Democrats can't seem to agree on who gets the most out of, I don't think it is a long term answer for the major problems our country faces. There are so many empty commercial buildings here now from companies that have gone bankrupt the city is having trouble trying to pick one to renovate for a new police station. Unemployment is the highest I have seen it here in our county and getting worse every day as there are stores and businesses closing weekly.

Ron

Did you call anyone names, why yes you did!!!!What are you smoking, read your own post. And I never mentioned anything about the stimulus bill or about Obama. I was just pointing out the fact that name calling and ranting that you say you hate are exactly what you are doing. I don't like it either.

Buzz, Its not that we hate Obama and want him to fail, we hate the stimulus bill because we dont think it will work. We attack the big government, tax and spend solution. It was wrong when Bush did it and its wrong now. We love our country and we fight for it even if its another American. Thats been the history of our nation starting with our Founding Fathers. Disagreement has made us stronger not weaker. Its far from the tribalism of the Mideast. Our rancor has been has been dialed up more in the last few years, but its not the first time, it was actually worse when our country was first founded. Intelligent disagreement is good, judgmental name calling, and generalization about about others without giving an argument why we think the way we do, is not cool, and does not advance anything but more rancor, and hyperbole.
