C'mon, the dark side comment was just a jab. I'm sure he's a nice man. I just disagree with some of his policies and what I perceive those policies have cost our nation.

I guess I listen to Sean Hannity too much and he taints my view of the conservative movement.

So specifically which policies do you disagree with?

Unfortunately I think his negatives, in my opinion, outweigh his positives. I specifically don't like his foreign policy. I've eluded in this thread to what aspects of his foreign policy I don't care for so I wont regurgitate it again. Besides all that can happen if I do mention specifics is a new volley of flame throwing.

This thread started with an inaccuracy in a Presidential speech. Lord knows there will be others. Perhaps not enough to create a 365 day calendar of them like my beloved Bushisms calendars of years past. But, I'm sure will be some.

Actually they'll be called Bidenisms. Now that guy is a train wreck about to happen.

David, thanks for starting a vigorous and fun thread. Why don't you toss out another incindiary? How about global warming, gay marriage or gun control???

HI acindrich,

I think it's easy to walk in a room and toss out a broad and general statement, then say it's too complex to articulate, and last try to shift the topic. Please tell me specifically what you disagree with? As far as people disliking the US because of "our" policies, that's the way it has always been, people hate the BIG guy. They are mad that they aren't in charge and don’t feel bigger, if they can pull us down to their size it pulls them up to our size. Unfortunately there is no other force in the world that considers freedom significant enough to go to the table for it. More and more, in the US, our citizens believe that security is more desirable than freedom. I think much of the damage in the world comes from our own citizens cowering. We are a great nation who has provided much of the leadership in the world. Along with that spotlight comes much envy. At the end of the day the world will always compare themselves against the longest stick, not the shortest... We, the USA, are the measuring stick of the world.

It's interesting how everyone wants to give Obama a buy. Hey, this guy during the campaign said that there were 57 States! I understand that everyone messes up. But the real question is experience and motive. This guy had less real executive experience than the GOP VP candidate Did. He has done NOTHING yet, other than to get elected. I think the real litmus test here is to look at the outcome four years from now. Then ask yourself if you are better off, more free, and have better opportunity than previously. If not, Obama failed as the leader of America. If the initial trend continues of more spending, confiscation and redistribution of wealth, censorship of opposing speech, we're not headed in the right direction.

On another note... I appreciate that you're smart and talented. I don't expect that David would hire anyone the less. Likewise, this forum consists of a lot of really smart and successful individuals. The members of this forum are driven to success because they can enjoy the fruits of their labor, our toys and many other things. They don't work hard to be stripped of their success! This current administration appears to be heading in a trend that will punish success. Obama has publicly stated that he believes in social reparations, and appears to be racing towards that end. I work hard for my own benefit, not to provide for someone who chooses not to survive. I empathize for those who struggle as I, not those who demand my compliance as a slave.

Len

Len,

I thought that since it more or less goes along with this thread some of you might be interested in reading Obama's Budget plan. I don't vouch for the accuracy of this as I don't believe all of anything I see on TV or read in the news any more.

Hi Ron,

Thanks, I saw that. I also read most of the text of the stimulus bill, which doesn't help the confidence level. I've seldom seen liberals not spend on social programs.I expect to see him balance the budget on the backs of the producers...

I have been mentioning a BOSTON TEA PARTY here for months. About a month ago. I typed it in to find the exact date, and this is what popped up......i2f

Maybe they need a mid states organization though?

Then a west coast one too?

Well Chris, if you mean.... I look like a doofas, I can handle that.
On the note of the power plant, I just might hit the buy button today after i check a few details on it. Gotta do my part to stimulate the economy. And don't worry my freind, we'll find you a bigger rubber band.

Len,

I also read the stimulus bill and I just don't see where most of it anything more than pork. All the wasted money for sod around the white house and new offices for his friends and junk like that just seem like rewarding his friends and not trying to help the country. If he was serious about helping this country he would get rid of Pelosi, Boxer, and Fienstien and then he would resign.

Acindrich,
There is a big difference between the policies of the Bush administration and Conservatives. Part of the problem is that the GOP has been trying to lay claim to the 'Conservative' title for a while, and they just are not. A bigger part of the problem is that people who vote for the GOP think they are voting for conservative values, and they (for the most part) don't even know what that means. They think the GOP stands for fiscal responsibility (they don't) and that the DNC stands for tax and spend (they do). They also think that the GOP stands for individual freedom (they don't). This election was about a larger number of people (finally) realising that the GOP that they want does not exist. I have some level of hope that 4 years of Obama will fix the stupid things that Bush did, and also force the GOP to move sooner rather than later to be the small government/small taxes/individual freedom party they pretend to be.

Sign me up for the Tea Party!
I like a double-bagged Irish Breakfast tea (strong and chewy - just like Guinness!), so I would rather not waste any more good tea just to protest. However, despite the cleanup efforts for Boston Harbour, it still has pretty decent levels of toxicity - instead of throwing the tea in the harbour we should dump in the politicians (both parties). I think that would have a stronger impact and more lasting consequences (especially concerning their future health issues).

Steve

I've been aware of these guys for a while now, but my cynical/suspicious nature has (so far) prevented me from getting involved.

I would love for our 'ultra-rightie' (CdC, Warren, Perry) and our 'ultra-leftie' (Cobra Bill) posters to poke around their site and tell me whether they think the party is Conservative or Liberal.

Wasn't that fair housing act put in place under the Clinton administration? If so, shame on that adminstration. And Bush had years to ward off the results.
The Bush administration was blocked in 2001 by Dodd when they attempted to put more regulations on Fannie and Freddie.

Better watch that tea party talk or they'll bring Janet Reno back to show you who's got the tanks and flame throwers. I can see the news articles now:

"A band of eccentric internal conbustion and carbon spewing cult members have staved off authorities at a Provo, Utah manufaturing facility for almost 2 months now...

Their leader, a man by the name of David Kirkham eluded capture by EPA agents after attempting to apprehend him on multiple carbon emission violations, all first degree felonies punishable by 10yrs hard labor restoring "urban art" in downtown locations of cities like Chicago and Detroit.

After a spectacular high speed persuit Kirkham, joined by several other cult members began sonic attacks on several federal buildings damaging almost all pictures of our glorious leader hanging from all but the highest floor walls and disrupting vital phone communications. Damage to many computer systems also occured from the sonic shocks, rendering the agencies inept from lack of direction by leaders in Washington, Detroit, Chicago, or Paris. The group then retreated to Kirkham's production facility which is believed to be housing massive amounts of banned hydrocarbon fluids stored in secret underground tanks.

Authorites tried standard practice of ending the standoff with flood lights and sound bombardments to the facility, however the suspects then erected huge plates of mirror polished aluminum effectively driving back agents. The suspects then countered with high volume 60's style music which damaged many sub-woofers installed in Federal vehicles and rendered inoperative all hydraulic suspension systems.

It's widely believed that authorities are at a loss as to what measures to take next as agents are reluctant to attempt entering the facility after confirmed sightings of several pallets of canned chili and kegs of beer were delivered prior to the stand-off..."

Ah, what the heck. Sounds like fun.

I think we're on to something here!

Ahhh! I enjoyed freedom today. Fired up the Cobra and took it out for a spin. Damn I love that car! I've probably exceeded my monthly limit on CO2, so what do I do for the rest of the month.

Thanks David and all.

Buy more carbon credits like the companies can. Then you can drive all you want. The way things are going I am thinking of investing in a Cobra Bicycle that uses non polluting tires and wearing no clothing as that is also made of polluting elements. And I won't be riding up to see Warren and Tru right now either.
