........it's always germane to remember that NAZIs were in fact (like all fascists) SOCIALISTS. Lefties are perpetually fond of calling staunch conservatives such as I and lotso' you on the CCSite "fascists" or "Nazis". It is always a Jobian labor to correct them, and, considering their insignificant, tightly-closed brain-masses, probably a hopeless endeavor.

I uster remind ALL my erstwhile little charges in history classes, that, the easiest way to remember that fascists and Nazis were socialists (and therefore Lefties) was to compare them to modern Lefties. Which group (Left or Right) wants to make everything mandatory?

I'm sure CdC (with his vast intellect and resources) could fashion an historic "check-list" which shows how communists, socialists, Democrats and liberals of all stripes are in reality monumentally arrogant statists who don't trust the masses to think for themselves.

About the only group on the right who want to run everyone's life seem to be the anti-abortionists. Most pro-lifers are white Christians---and, as Christopher Hitchens said so famously---"if they knew just who were being aborted, they'd reverse course!"

Lefties want to take away your liberty, freewill, etc. and the easiest way to do that is via a dual-edged sword: confiscatory taxation and regulations up the ying-yang!

I thought that many of these warnings were the result of lawyers out trolling for business. The aluminum mast on my sailboat has a warning sticker on it telling me that I should not operate the boat under overhead electrical wires. Some genius must have electricuted himself and the family then sued Z-Spar so now they have to put a safety sticker on every mast.

Did you see the shape Hollywood is in now? They had a news special on about two weeks ago showing the closed shops and others with big closing out sale signs in the windows. One woman they interviewed in one of the over priced shoe stores brought out this pair of Womens shoes that looked like felt sewn together and was ugly. She said they normally sold for $1,800 dollars but she has them marked down to $ 445 now. Even the wealthy kooks down there aren't buying right now. The big Hollywood sign up on the hill needs to be repaired but they can't afford it. I think it is starting to turn into a upper class slum right now.

In spite of snopes.com, I think the eminent domain thing may still be a problem.

If Russia, with it's vast resources, and China with it's vast population, ever get friendly, the resulting "800 pound gorilla" coalition will take pretty much anything they want.

Perhaps we should send Rush over there to convince them to continue their hate and distrust of each other. I've got a nice backyard I'd hate to lose over misplaced distrust and poor timing. And that's the unvarnished truth.

Actually Wes, since the economy is so bad I don't think they can even put up anything we have for collateral to borrow from China. Russia can sustain itself without the rest of the world but would have to cut off a lot of their trade and other things. Even Britain is suffering from huge losses in business ventures they have here in this country. I believe that right now, Russia is in the best shape of any country and even they are hurting some.
