You guys are forgetting that there are more than 1 kind of Liberal. Jefferson and Franklin were both Liberals - I could see Jefferson driving a Cobra, or maybe a 'Vette. Franklin might have a Veyron (or something else quirky and French), Washington - perhaps a Maybach, Paine might go for a Mustang...

In the world as we know it now, there is only one type of liberal and if they own a Cobra it just confirms, once again:

Btw........
........please see my reference (somewhere up in ThreadLand), re the Founding Fathers being "progressives". BS! Hoooey! They were Enlightenment philosophers----aka 18th century "liberals". In other words, "old school" liberals who had not one scintilla of comparability to contemporary big government junkies (what the hell did the misnamed American "Revolution" oppose?) and post-Marx socialista control-freaks. Jaysuss! TJ owned guns and slaves! He sure learned his lesson while scurrying out of France, eh? He LOATHED the very idea of a strong central government! Yes he was an idealist, and hence his war on the "Federalist Navy" reaped the reward of a toasted White House. Washington was no "liberal" nor a "progressive". He effectively stamped out rioting amongst whiskey distillers. Daniel Shays had more to do with producing a lust for strong governance than any Founder. A little reading of Edmund Burke re Watt Tyler and similar rumblings from England's lower classes is in order.
Ben Franklin knew that preserving a participatory republic was chancy at best. Remember his reply to some lady----".....if you can keep it?". Very few of the Founders trusted the common man to the extent that TJ did. Look what universal suffrage has gotten us. Wait 'til 50% of the public works for the government and/or 50% of the public derives its monetary sustenance from the "other" (working) half. Both seem to be coming. The politics of envy will destroy this republic, just as Ben Franklin predicted.
Most Enlightenment political pohilosophers knew there would have to be limits (they'd read Plato and Aristotle). The Fwoggies blew the whole scam, though----behind every utopian movement lies a murderous totalitarian bunch. Where has any huge societal revolt ever ended in anything but a blood-soaked regime? France, Russia, Germany, China, Cuba, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., etc., etc.

Freddie,
That is exactly what I have been saying for quite a long time. Classical Liberals are quite a different sort from the welfare types that are running (ruining) the DNC (and the country) now. There are still Classical Liberals in the US (I agree with almost all of a Classical Liberal platform - so I am probably one), and most of them cannot stand the Neo Libs that have taken over the DNC. They also can't stand the Neo Cons who have taken over the GOP. Both Neo groups (AFAIAC) are ruining this country in different ways, though between the two of them the destruction will be complete. I have almost no problems with Classic Con ideals either, but they all seem to have lost their principles and threw in with the Neo Cons a long time ago.
Oh, and I did not say Washington was a Liberal - I just put him in a car that I though fit his personality (German (Prussian), stately, powerful, and conservative).

I have noticed that as well. No pics of their cars. Most don't post in any thread having to do with cobras. I think they cruise the net posting left wing crap on any site they can find.

I would love to hear from you two CC freeloaders exactly who you are talking about.
If it is me I would advise you to quit while you are behind.

Well this post was fun, wish I had got on line over the weekend, I guess I'm one of those Liberals that actually have a Cobra according to some. Not at all sure why anyone's political leaning would have anything to do with their love of cars, I think most of this vitriol hatred is as a result of 30 years of hate radio and right wing talking points, as repeated incessantly on this site, that said, I love this site, I spend time in the Solstice forum as well and I have to say the people on this site are far more knowledgeable then most as far as the hobby goes that is, smile I still think they are wrong politically Ha!

It's funny - if you actually go by the dictionary definitions then owning any kind of vehicle beyond what you need for basic transportation is not conservative.

There we go.....the old ad hominem attack, VRM......
........define how we are "freeloaders".......
If you are indeed referring to me, I will counter that puerile libel by saying that a merely cursory review of your Gallery indicates (as the Texans say) "You're all hat and no cattle!".
I have often found that people who are so free with personal invective are invariably and assuredly not up to backing up what they say. What have you given to these pages other than your noisome and negligible nattering?
Guys..has Bonyhadi arisen? Yikerooo!!!!!! ar-ar-ar

So, do you actually have a Cobra? If yes, why no picture in your Gallery?

Freddie,
My original posts on CC were in regards to paint codes, and I regularly post in the history forum. I stumbled into the lounge years ago because there is just not a lot of activity in the history section.
See these images in the grey area near my name:
Jamo has them, and so does Ron61. The trophy means you sent money last year to help support the operating costs of Club Cobra. The star means you sent money the last time CC needed funds. I do not see either of those next to your name, Perrys, SPO, or a couple of others whom I am not going to bother to mention. You use the site, but don't seem willing to ante up to help with the operating costs. Sounds like the classic definition of freeloaders to me.
You are also a bit of a historian/researcher - so why didn't you respond when Computerworks asked for help with writing up Cobra history stuff on www.csxinfo.net? I've written most of the driver bios (I'm rather pleased with the ones I did for Innes Ireland and Bob Grossman, though I don't think he ever posted Grossmans) there, but Computerworks seems to have lost interest so I stopped writing them. Could've used your help. Don't feel too bad though - nobody else did anything either. I also created a dozen or two banner ads for SAAC when Computerworks first got that site up and running. We all help where we can, right? Well, maybe not 'all'.
As for my gallery - what did you see in there? I only have 4 pics; one of them is something I built myself - I even did the paint! It is a bit of a tight fit, but it was an enjoyable experience.
When I want something with a LOT more legroom I cruise around in a 'Vette. I am regularly at Skips Mega Cruise in NH.
Oh, do you have any idea what the CSX significance of my avatar is? I admit, I do think about changing it to something with a little more T and A, but I like the historical significance (and I doubt I could do anywhere near as well as some of the great Tand A ones already here).
Steve

You still haven't explained your calumny and libel.....
.....where did we earn the vile sobriquet of "free-loaders"? H-m-m-m-m-m-m? I served a total of 8 years in the Navy and have donated to this site when asked to do so. What's your problem with that? I REALLY don't cotton to personal attacks, in case you were wondering.
