As I recall (in our American history books) the terrorist insurgency as you put it eventually kicked your smarmy British ancestors out. And if all it took was a "minor blip" to "whoop" them, then so it be. Your words, not mine.
Britain has not been the same since. Though I do love them the most when a fiscal & social conservative (with hawkish overtones) is the PM. Tony Blaire was OK (but not social con), but Mrs Thatcher!! Oh what a great PM she was. I bet the male MPs wore "cups" when they had meetings with her.
