BTW Tru, there is a difference between "controversy" or "contoversial" and being down right ugly. I have done both in the past. But one ingredient "from the soup" (or in your case, pop corn) that I have not added in a long while is "ugly". I have no intention of removing "controversial" from the ingredient list when the soup calls for it. We all have "logs" in our eyes. The minute I point out the failure of others, I forget about the log. Even Mark Twain was a hypocrite. But he was funny too and that made it easy to forget about his human failings.

All journalism that is 'slanted', left or right, IS "yellow journalism" and should be ignored. But that eliminates all of today's media, print, and broadcast.

I am afraid that you are absolutely correct...

Maybe it always was that way but today it appears that the competition for ratings has encouraged the Media to go for one of the 500k to 3 million niche audiences. You can find the truth but you have to look for it. It is almost as if the truth doesn't matter. It is all about sensationalism and cries of hypocrisy. There is no dialog. I don't know what the effect of this gotcha mean spirited screaming will lead to, but I doubt it will be good for the country.

Depends on what media is involved - Broadcast TV really should be non-biased, but it sure is not - leans to the left with NBC the worst case scenario. Cable TV just needs to follow their business plan; FOX is right but not far right, MSNBC is far, far left - CNBC seems fair with business/investment - it is what it is. Of course, the web is all over the map with some really hateful stuff posted all day long.
Trouble occurs here when a slanted view is posted, based on a lie.
Expressed views on the far side; left or right are not the astounding or disturbing thing posted here…it is the lack of realization of what is to come that interests me. I've been in the banking world all my life - no one here even remotely understands how bad it is - it's a perfect storm in the financial world at all levels.
I got out of the stock market 2 1/2 years ago - lost some money the first year (no actual loss, but very little gain), but avoided a HUGE loss in the past year or so. Life may never be the same in America and Obama (here's the biased part) is doing all he can to assure that that happens. Each of us will readily be able to judge the results in a few years.
Speaking up once in awhile is not a bad thing, attending tea parties is not a bad thing - a price is paid when deeply held opinions are expressed, but the price is much greater when nothing is done or said at all.
In other words, spirited screaming is not so bad - just be prepared to pay the price. I thank God for people like Rush, Hannity, etc that use their platforms to voice opinions and also thank God for those on the other side as well. Some of it is very entertaining as well.
They came for the pro-lifers but I did nothing
They came for the gun owners but I did nothing
They came for the evangelicals in the public square but I did nothing
They came for the home schoolers but I did nothing
They came for the supporters of the sanctity of marriage but I did nothing
When they came for the social conservatives but I did nothing because I was a fiscal conservative
Now they are coming for me.......
I hope that there is still room for at least spirited discussion here.
Good luck to all those that do not participate.

There is and always has been...just stop being an asshole.

Yes...yes it is, and it ain't on the menu so we're not accepting credit cards anymore.
Getting on a soapbox is fine...standing on an alter is going too far. Hope you get that.
End of discussion.
