I remember that.I had all the models form the original series.Packed them up and put them in the cellar when i moved to Kalifornia from CT.in the 80's.
Went back at some point to find my father had thrown them all out along with my hockey gear.

Just remembered one thing, some of Mcoys surgical insturments were salt shakers that were from props considered for the episode with the salt-craving alien. They finally decided the future offered nothing new for a salt shaker and just used a plain 'ol glass one so the viewer could plainly see it was salt.

God help me I have no idea why I remember that...

I also have that book somewhere in the basement. One of the things they did was really push the envelope on costume design. They got called in by the NBC censors because the plunge down the front of one costume showed too much of the top of the breast. So they inverted the plunge line. It seems the censors had no rules about the underside of breasts on their books. They had to allow it. I can't remember the episode.

Dam. Just Like the Apollo program. They "kind of" know where the blurprints are, but they cannot find the complete set. NASA even admits it would be cost prohibitive to try and resurect the program... even though it works. Rather, we will sit our Astronauts on top of SRBs and jackhammer them into space.

I think the reason for failure may be the re-bar in the concrete walls. Likely some Faraday Cage effect.

It is unlikely that any extensive ferric materials were used in the construction of the Enterprise, as something that simple would have ruined the show.
But I don't have prints and specs like so many of you do, so I could be wrong. But that would account for easy transport travel through ship walls.

It seems to me that even if a low density of basement re-bar were used, the "restricting" effect would be like if a buddy held a fence down while one crossed it... but his hold slipped at an inopportune time. The figures would materialize, but all would be doubled over on the floor, moaning. Hardly the surprise pose to strike sudden fear in a Klingon. Well maybe it would... depends on how they're built.

One of the weird prop scenes I remember most was one where a mysterious killer was poisoning others. A hand came out from the side of the screen... and 409'd another character.
Yup.
The same plastic sprayer as 409 Cleaner was to be sold in, a couple years later. Guess the prop manager couldn't have known. Anybody else remember it? It was a clean kill.

The original series used to re-run here after school in the early '70's. I was working for J.C.Penney in their TV service department. Always had a TV set test-running during the 1/2 hour. The boss gave me the evil-eye, but I insisted that the deteriorated color signal (videotaped) was an excellent stress test for the chroma circuits. I had to turn the sound down to nothing, but it was still worth it. It was almost 5 o'clock, quitting time, anyway.

Finally got to see it...at an IMAX...and it was extremely muy goodo.

I know one thing...1701 wasn't built in Iowa of all places.

Wife and I really enjoyed the character backstories (esp. Bones and Scotty) and all of the actors did a good job filling the old roles.

Really enjoyed it and looking forward to an all new series of movies.

Wes, I have taken into account the electromagnetic properties of the steel in the walls. The problem seems to be with the small nuclear reactor I need to fire the subatomic particle stream. I can't seem to get about 4 gigawatts of deliverable power.

I think I need a bigger hammer.

You may have incorrectly configured your Heisenberg compensator - that is the little widget that compensates for having too many or not enough Heisenbergs.
