Mark Martin to me, is the greatest story of 09. I would like to see him take it home. Tony's season is number two. You don't think the drivers have come up with a convenient way to drop debris on the track?

fsstnotch 10-13-2009 04:40 AM

Wayne, I'd actually like to see the "chase" go away. I'd rather just see the cars, all of them, race through the season. Whomever has hte most points at the end of the season wins. I like this because every year we go into the chasew ith one guy leading hte points, and every year that person is eliminated. It punishes you for having a great season but not doing as great in the last 10 races. Especially when there are 33 other cars out there causing wrecks and such! It really kills it for me.

Bill Bess 10-13-2009 06:17 AM

GOD! the Fontana race was boring..if it wasn't for the Cards. football game I would fallen asleep. Glad to see JJ win but I expected that due to the fact that his team normally out does the other pit teams and he has something special under the hood each week....whatever that is!

SPF2245 10-13-2009 10:42 AM

If you ever have a chance (or get bored on the next Nascar race), listen to the incar radio of JJ verse 90% of the other drivers...you'll hear a major difference. They are discusing tactics, options, setups, ect more often then the others. Chad and JJ don't get into b!tch sessions, they work out solutions. I believe this team work (along with the current Hendrick package) is what makes them unbeatable. What amazes me is listening to the other drivers and their crew chiefs makes me wonder if the other 30+ team owners have any clue how efficient JJ's team really are?!

Don 10-13-2009 02:53 PM

While my info is dated, there was mention the #24 & #48 Teams are in the same building and share all the resources and equipment equally. Up to the point that the uniforms in the shop are generic.

Additionally , all four Hendrick cars share their set ups before and during the race. All the engines come from the single in-house shop.

For a " Spec " car, the #48 personnel including the Crew Chief have the ability to work as a Team at the track along with the driving skills of JJ. Notice the incidents this past Sunday where JJ lost track position during pit stops, but made up the difference on the track. When the lug nut came off during a pit stop , JJ lost 6 track positions, but was able to recover.

Tony Stewart credits the Team personnel for his success this year, even though he uses the chassis and engines from Hendrick.

Do not recall the details, but the #48 has been taken to the NASCAR R & D facility a number of times after races for very close scrutiny, Recently, NASCAR warned them they are very close to the spec with little room for error, but still legal. i,e, attention to the details.

fsstnotch 10-18-2009 02:06 AM

Someone PLEASE... just wreck JJ on lap 1 of every race for the rest of the year!!! NASCAR wonders why they lose fan base... it's the same SH!T different year. JJ looks so so all season and then wins every race in thw chase. BORING!!!!

This same thing has happened at one of my local dirt tracks. They hold the "little guy nationals" every year and every year the same guy wins. SO, people stop going if they have somewhere else to go.

All you have to do is read the script.

Ron61 10-19-2009 01:36 PM

Thanks for the update. I watched a Sci Fi movie that I liked as the races have just gotten to boring. And I can't hardly stand to listen to JJs syrupy voice after his wins. I did watch one of the chase races and even the commentators were remarking about how many empty seats they had. That was the boooooring one in California.

Ron :p

What a history makeing year for NASCAR......Jimmy Johnson stands to go for 4 in a row the same year NASCAR opens their Hall of fame...........2 of the 5 inductees should have been in the hall of fame without haveing to be voted in in the first place(the Frances) that would have left 2 spots open for other inductees...........but I never said NASCAR had their sh:t together........

Are you saying that NASCAR is allowing his car to be slightly better than the other cars? You don't think that the 48 team is cheating or anything like that, do you? Just wondering.

Wayne
Sure the're cheating to some degree, as the ole saying goes: "If you ain't cheatin, you ain't racin"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are just realllllllll good at it and also have the best team/crew cheif/driver right now, plain and simple and I'm not even a JJ fan, but you gotta give them credit, they got their $h!te together better than anyone else........You don't have to like him or his team, but you gotta respect them for what they have done and continue to do.........

I'd love to see Mark Martin win the champoinship, he deserves it more than anyone else (IMHO) ,just don't think he will:CRY::CRY:.....

I also wish they would do away with the chase and the top 35 locked in by points.........

David

rustyBob 10-21-2009 07:31 PM

Denny Hamlin wishes the chase would go away and he let every body know how he felt about it...........do away with the chase thats why they came up with it because the same people kept winning the championship...........do away with the top 35, if you cant qualify for the race then bye bye no matter what your name is.........and stop the darn cautions for that french guy DeBries when hes not on the track to begin with

Don 10-22-2009 08:55 AM

At Martinsville this weekend, Johnson has 6 wins , 5 in the last 6 races, will be interesting.

So far when NASCAR has taken the #48 to the R & D Center after races for an inspection , Team has been warned, close to the specs, but still legal. No doubt, if there are any negative findings, NASCAR will make the results public.

rustyBob 10-22-2009 02:40 PM

They have been takeing the 48 and the 5 car to the R@D center for the last 3 weeks..........thats what NASCAR now has been reporting........I still like watching the Nationwide racer better even though Kyle Busch keeps winning most of them.

Don 10-23-2009 08:23 AM

Source: Associated Press " Poor Finishes Finish Hamlin "

Hamlin also has stated the desire regarding points : " If they gave points for us running up front, we'd maybe have a shot at this championship " " But, unfortunately they don't. It's only on the finishing position. That's bitten us right at the very end. "

Hamlin had a 22nd finish at Dover, 37th ( driver error ) at California and 42nd at Charlotte ( blown engine ). These finishes would more than likely be the same even if the Chase did not exist, with a direct influence on his standings.

rustyBob 10-23-2009 10:45 AM

The thing with the chase is if a guy makes the chase and finishes last in every race in the chase he will only drop to 12th place.........if the guy in 13th place after the chase 12 are set then he goes out and wins every race in the chase he still will only finish 13th in the points.........sounds like some body needs to pull their head out of their rear and FIX the darn points race to exactaly that A POINTS RACE............

Ron61 10-23-2009 11:13 AM

:)

Bob,

That is the way it used to be before NASCAR improved it. I don't like the chase, the Lucky Dog, nor all of the so called debris cautions. NASCAR is just boring to me any more and I don't watch a lot of it. I prefer to watch the road races when they are on.

Ron :)

Wayne Maybury 10-26-2009 08:50 AM

I tuned in for the last 100 laps yesterday. There were lots of empty seats at Martinsville which is usually full for this event. With the exception of a couple of incidents near the end, it was actually a boring race with them turning laps every 20 seconds. JJ finished second but managed to increase his points lead. It still amazes me how they can turn 9,000+ rpm with push rod engines and not blow them up.

Wayne

Ron61 10-26-2009 01:40 PM

Wayne,

If you thought there were a lot of empty seats at that race you should have watched the truck race. I watched it for about 20 minutes and I swear the crews and teams had more people than they had in the stands. Also several sponsors are going to leave next year and a few drivers are floating around wondering if they will have jobs. I only watched a few minutes of the cup race as it was just boring to me.

Did you hear Hamlins radio conversation to his crew chief after the next to last caution for a piece of paper. He said they just want to give JJ another chance to pass me. I dont like JJ but do admire what he has accomplished, with NASCARs help the past 4 years.

Ron
