This build thread originally started in the introductions sub-forum and I have moved it here where it belongs... enjoy!
Here is the link to the original thread... Joined for all the right reasons...
Here are a few shots of the rear suspension mounting tubes, which I was able to get done tonight...

Your work is incredible, I'm glad you have choosen to share with us on CC.

On a cheaper ref. note, Revell did a 1/24 kit of a 427 S/C. While the kit is on the very beginner side of things (right down my alley), the body seems to be pretty accurate in shape. P/N 85-2828

I have been using the MPC 1/16th scale 427 Cobra kit for my critical reference and measurements... converting measurements from 1/16th to 1/8th is very simple; just double it! Thanks for the tip on the Revell kit, though!

Damn, you are good. In some ways this is more entertaining than watching others build one that can be driven.

Keep up the great work and keep posting your progress!

Main tubes stick out too far beyond the front suspension uprights. Lower outer tubes are too straight. Look at a street car these cars have a nice belly that you see without sidepipes. Cowl hoop braces are too far from the cowl hoop line. Sorry you asked, nice workmanship. I'm with JB, make it full size!

I wonder if I can find a Revell sticker for my superformance --afterall we are building them in 1:1 scale as well!

Actually, I have a set of prints I drew up by scaling up the MPC 1/16th scale plastic kit, but they only get me so far. Most of the detail stuff I have been referencing using the Kirkham website, but again, it only gets me so far. One of the main reasons I joined this site was for reference and the feedback I've gotten so far has been great, but alas, I still have no solid dimensional info. A good example of bad info is the front of the main tubes, which another member pointed out in an earlier post, sticking out too far past the front suspension centerline. On the model I scaled, they do sick out that far, but on the Kirkham site, I noticed they are alot shorter. Not a big deal to change them and it won't alter the wheelbase, but they need changed. Also the lower tubes are indeed too straight, so those need changed, as well. The more info I have the better, so any help is much appreciated! Thanks for your input and keep checking back for updates...

Made up another one... got the back-end right, but the front end looks more like a 289. One more attempt and I should have it. I'll post up some pics of the latest one tonight... forgot to post them...

		Looks nice.

Do yuo have a chassis drawings?

You should make a "wish list" of info what you need for your build and I'm sure some one have that info what you need...

As I stated in an earlier post, I have a set of basic prints I drew up from the info I was able to gather. They are basic and only as accurate as what I took them from, which I'm finding is not all that accurate. I should post a "wish list", as you have said and see what info I can get... thanks,

Thank you for your offer sir! I just received an email from another member offering some dimensions, so we'll see what I come up with. I would love to have enough info to develop a full set of prints in 1/8th to work from. It would make my progress alot quicker, rather than having to refer to photos and the limited info I have now. This info seems to be closely guarded, so I would say to you what I said to him... I will keep any info I get private and for my use only, just to make everyone a little more comfortable. I'll keep everyone up to date...

That looks good and I assume you painted it to match your full size? I'm working the other way around... building a 1/8th scale one in preparation to build a 1:1 at some point, Lol! Thanks for the pics of yours...

Here is the Revell/Monogram version in 1/24th. It's missing a few things, but this was a box stock build (nothing except what was in the box was used except paint, glue, and decals) to see how everything fit together. I'm working on more detailed versions of specific cars.

I'm doing the full brass tube chassis route for a 1/24th Ferrari 250 GTO. I am many years into it, and I work on it and collect parts every so often. I got a fantastic set of 6.00 and 6.50 x15 wire wheels and Dunlop Racing tyres recently - cost me about $120, but they are accurate right down to the sidewall detail, tread pattern, and spoke count. Someday I might even finish it.

Okay, I think I got what I was asking for... maybe a little more, but the upside is I have what I need to due a dead nuts accurate frame, now. The downside is that most of what I have is okay, but not dead nuts... Such is life, right? So I will start again, rather than patching what I have, but the result will be worth it, so I'm not discouraged!
@VRM I know the feeling of projects that take years, worked on a little here and there, etc. My F40 build is exactly that type of project! Those wheels you got sound excellent; are they Boranni's? It's incredible what is available nowadays, even into the 1/43rd scale realm... Those guys are nuts! Some of the kits and detail available in 1/43rd is staggering!

I'm off to the workshop to start cuttin' more brass...
I'll post some stuff soon, though...

Okay, having some good reference makes a big difference! I know the purists should love this... it's about 99.99% perfect, the last 100th of a percent going to +/- in measuring in 64ths, which is pretty damn small... my eyes hurt from looking so hard! Anyway, I'm waiting on some more 1/2" brass tubing coming for the main tubes, so I decided to tackle the rear-most main chassis sub-assembly. It was a bear, since it is comprised of 11 separate pieces of brass plate, all soldered together. It really came out nice, but it did take a while to finish. It's one of the more intricate assemblies to build, so I got it out of the way. Enjoy...

To give you a good idea of size, the 3 lightening hole in the rear plate are 2" in diameter in 1:1 scale, which makes them 1/4" in diameter in 1/8th scale...
11 pieces, not including the bolts, nuts and washers...

Good to be on the right track now,
