Warren,

Your videos really help a lot of us get through the long winter here in the Great White North. THANK YOU for posting them! Please keep them coming.

Hope the snow misses you or at least goes away quickly.

Cheers!
Dave

You really scare me  crossing the double yellow with on coming traffic! We don't want that camera broken. :p

wtm442 03-15-2007 09:40 PM

Dave - Thanks - glad I can be of help to all my fellow shut-ins. The 11 O'clock news just got over. Supposed to get 5 to 8 inches of snow ... then it turns to rain (up to 4 inches), and then the temperature drops and everything freezes solid!

Guess I'll have to cut back on my rides this month.

Waterman - I don't see no stinking double lines! Those are "alignment helpers" like the big black line at the Bonneville salt flats. Just a little helper to keep it straight which is sometimes tough when you are hard on the brakes. The dash mounted camera does NOT relay the actual speed of the Cobra.

NC427SC - just watch out when staring at those photo's. You don't want to go blind, do you? Well, maybe at least until you need glasses?

wtm442 03-23-2007 09:28 PM

It was up to 55 ºF today, but it was overcast. So I took a short 15 mile drive. The clouds were getting darker so I did not go too far. Took another movie of the last 2 mile ride home! But the size was bigger than the maximum allowable on You Tube.

So I used a trial offer editing software to shrink the size, but it added the "advertisement" to the top.

Went thru the really expensive part of Squantum. But the streets over there in horrible condition. Multi-million dollar homes with 25 cent roads!

Mickmate - I just ordered 2 sets of brake pad shims (teflon coated metal plates) that go between the back of the pads and the caliper pucks in the Wilwood brakes. Maybe one of these days I'll take off the tires and add the shims - Wilwood said that will stop the brake squeak. Sometimes its like dragging your fingernails across a blackboard!

Warren,

See what you mean about the roads. Same thing here in many nicer areas. Must be sort of a more "elegant" way of doing speedbumps to slow folks down.

Cheers!
Dave

Hey Warren, you got the clippers now you just need to use them on your nails. Thanks for letting us have a drive, that was inspiring. Cheers mate.

wtm442 03-26-2007 08:36 AM

Here is another video of a drive on Feb 23rd. Posting it now because it was over the 100 MB limit of YouTube when I took it. So I used the trial offer editing software to reduce its size.

Supposed to get up to 62 °F tomorrow! I can feel my next ride coming in the near future!

wtm442 03-27-2007 03:40 PM

The temp got up to about 55 °F today so I went for a ride. Only went about 20 miles which was just enough to get the blood flowing.

Second video of todays ride. Can anyone tell me why the audio on You Tube is about 4 to 5 seconds behind the picture? Its like an old Japanese movie with terrible dubbing!

Mark Husar 03-27-2007 05:15 PM

Ya gotta try this!!

I activated all three video's at the same time and it was just terrific. sounded like I was out on the road with a couple of buddies going for a cruise.
Ya gotta try it!!!

NC427SC 03-27-2007 06:28 PM

Wow! I just activated all four. Sounds like a cobra convoy! **)

h2oman 03-27-2007 09:17 PM

Warren, you the man! Just waiting for the full length feature film. :MECOOL:

ROUSHAC 06-02-2007 08:49 PM

Not up to your standards, Warren, but here's a video test of my camera mounted to the dash. The video is OK, but the audio leaves more than a little to be desired. The Velcro mount sounds like I'm playing castanets or something. I'll have to look into one of those Sticky Pod suction cup mounts.

Not bad Dave. It might take a little time to catch up to the master, but you're on the way.

BTW, I think I heard your popcorn popper in the back ground. Glad you keep it close by.

Naumoff 06-03-2007 04:24 AM

Dave,
Is that a Cobra with an automatic?

It sounds like a pickup truck with an exhaust leak.;)

Naumoff 06-03-2007 04:30 AM

Just read your car details.
you need a reverse manual valve body so you can wind it out in low gear through the neighborhood.:3DSMILE:

ROUSHAC 06-03-2007 11:47 AM

Tony,

Yep, it's an AOD. I messed up my left leg a few times, so a manual wasn't an option if I wanted to drive a Cobra.

I do try to be cautious on the neighborhood streets because there are a lot of young kids in the area. I even "sort of stop" at most of the stop signs (unlike some of us here). ;)

You'll notice that I did wind it up a little bit once I got to the 4-lane.

Also, I didn't make a whole lot of friends in the general area by testing my rear tires' contact patch doing burnouts in the driveway a few times. One lady said the tires squealing (not the engine) scared her and asked if I would please not do it anymore. She lives about 500 yards away as the crow flies. She's cute, so no more burnouts in the driveway. :D

At least I have "the sticker" on the back of the Cherokee in my driveway. :p

I didn't mean that you race through your neighborhood, just leave it in first so that it is loud.

Like they don't love me enough when I leave for work in the early morning already. :D

MFE III 06-03-2007 03:02 PM

Warren, I recognize those roads; in the Blue Hills between Milton and Quincy. I went to school in the area and had alot of fun on and off the roads in those hills. On the road, in my '68 Z28 . . . and off the road . . let's just say way off the road!
Nice video's. . . thanks
Matt
