Looks great Jay. Well done.

Cashburn 09-22-2009 03:29 PM

Thanks.

The only road I am not familiar with on that route is 202. I usually go further north then that road but I wanted to cut it and bring it south again to get down where the color will likely be.

The bridge over Lake Lillinonah is great and over the Stevenson Dam as well. I also really like 133 and 188 from a driving standpoint.

And just for Bob we have a north sprint through the tunnel on 15.

ZOERA-SC7XX 09-22-2009 05:23 PM

Looks like a good run. Let us know what the tentative day/date is.

SJK2 09-22-2009 05:52 PM

Jay,
The route looks fine, rt 202 is a good 2 laner w/some twisties, We should try for some photo ops.............

Bob In Ct 09-22-2009 05:54 PM

Here are the numbers from the map -
Total miles --> 116.4
Total time --> 3.0 Hours
Average Speed --> 38.8 MPH
Fastest Leg --> C to D --> 58MPH
Slowest Leg --> I to B --> 29MPH

All of this assumes the rest of Connecticut is not out there with us. If it is, we'll be going a little slower. As usual I would prefer Route 254 up to Litchfield instead of Route 8&202 just for the scenary and fast windy road (but that's me).

So it looks like a plan! I hope all the guys with the BBs can keep up.

Bob

Cashburn 09-22-2009 06:19 PM

If you want speed you will get more on 8 then 254. We will hit triple digits at 3 points on this route. If we get a section of 35 mph it will balance out.

BTW here is the route we would run if you all had BDRs with Roush 402/427s and 5 speeds with OD: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...8,2.447205&z=9

Bob In Ct 09-22-2009 06:43 PM

You forget, my SPF has the 0.68 OD TREMEC with the 60 series tires. 90 MPH is about 2,900 RPM for me. 100 MPH is Nooooooooo problem!

Just for the record - if we do 50 miles at 30MPH and 50 miles at 90MPH we'll average 45MPH, trust me the math is correct.

You could always leave the gang at 254 & 8 and regroup at 202 in Litchfield. Matter of fact, I'll join you.

Cashburn 09-23-2009 11:09 AM

Note: I tweaked the route a little and added 30 mins of driving and a run up 254. That should make it really nice. (reference new link in first post above).

Does anyone know if the Mohawk Mtn. State Park has a spot for a group photo?

Cashburn 09-23-2009 12:22 PM

Wonder if we can get more than 1 ERA this year? I know there will be a couple SPFs, FFRs, and many BDRs...

TButtrick 09-23-2009 01:02 PM

Jay,

As far as I know, we'll have Gary Nelson with his ERA with us. Mohawk would be great for a group pic. Here's an aerial view with lodge in the middle, ski trails to the right and parking to the left in a round-about.

I would be up for this trip. I need to check with the keeper of the social calendar, but this sounds like a great ride. Will you guys slow down and wait for the guys with the BBs?

Should we have to? :JEKYLHYDE

Group photo will be at Mohawk Mountain State Park at the "Vista" on Tourney Road:

There is an observation tower nearby that will allow some brave soul to get up there and shoot a shot of the full group. This may also be a good spot for a picnic style lunch?

TButtrick 09-23-2009 02:49 PM

I just did the the math and I've calculated, that if we leave our cars in the parking lot at Mohawk Mountain for 62 days, we'll have a 82% chance of having Google's satellite capture a picture of all our cars in the parking lot. I say it's worth it. Bring a tent and fresh undies. I'll bring the beer.

Am I missing something? The new date is October 17, Correct?

Bob

ZOERA-SC7XX 09-24-2009 05:53 PM

Bob, I think the first post noting the date was edited after we read the thread. Initially Jay wasn't sure what the date would be. Unfortunately, Claire and I both work on Saturdays, so unless the run is rained out, we won't be able to participate.
