I wonder how much additional power you can pick up with aftermarket side pipes ...

I'm guessing a lot if you stack-em in series like a D-cell Maglite.

19 mph is pretty fast for an electric golf cart.

This is horrible, I will not mention the manufactures but some of these companies care more about selling cars than preserving the very culture of the cobra. I very much value the dedication of the vintage cobra to companies like ERA Kirkham and CSX. it wont be long before some marketing idiot decides to put a spoiler on the cobra...It wont be long before there is so many so called cobras out there that they will a dime a dozen kit car.

I think Ford sadly, already did that with the name. It took them about 40 years to build a Cobra branded version of the Mustang that was worthy of the name.

I still like the idea of side pipes for the EV version. You could have a 1000 Watt amplifier and a synthesizer to simulate the sound of the original car's exhaust note. Shucks, I'll bet you could even get software add ins to simulate a canyon road or a tunnel you are driving through.

Who knows how big this could get? Fuel injector resellers could offer various types of converters to accelerate the juice out of the battery to the electric motor while broadcasting a simulated staccato exhaust note through hidden speakers on the car. Shucks they could even offer heaters to heat the side pipes so they can still produce snake bites.

I think the potential here might just be unlimited — WOW!

Electric? No gracias amigo.

A Cobra is supposed to be a brash,
unapologetic, loud little heathen.

Cobras are inconspicuous like a
flaming Hindenburg. Those sidepipes
announce to all a Cobra is in the neighborhood.

It should also smell like race gas along
with anyone near it.

As the Star Wars Mandalorian says,
"This is the way."

just buy a prius with knock offs, same thing... Superformance has evolved into a company who only cares about selling cars. IMHO, sad they used to be a great company... its as if some 25 year old with a sales and marketing degree took over, hence the electric cobras and the new version with the spoilers and body design that appeals to the generation Z

I believe in any free enterprise endeavor selling something is the primary motivation, right? They will still sell you a 600+HP dinosaur burner if you like (and in several classic styles...FIA, 427 S/C, Brock Coupe, GT40). At least Superformance has the capital and balls to test the waters with something that aligns with the tree-hugger crowd. It doesn’t appeal to me either but who are we to say that they don’t have customers waiting for one?

There used to be someone here on CC and local to the SF Bay Area who either built or converted his Cobra to an EV. He used to bring it to local events. At the time I wasn’t a big fan, but with the way the market and political atmosphere are going, I think an EV Cobra makes sense as an option.

Years from now when I'm long gone and some other rebellious soul
has my Cobra, I hope they roll into an all EV car meet, rumble
down every row spewing race fuel exhaust like they're smoking
a Cuban cigar in a restaurant.

I wonder how this $529,000 battery-powered CSX Coupe venture did back "in the day," announced back in 2014.

Here's the CC member, Jeff McCabe, who took out an '68 427FE, and went electric. Man, 5 years went fast.

Any 427 FE owners regret not going for a small block stroker?

Now if they stick a bunch of batteries in my Focus I would be interested.

When they solve the problems with electric cars then I will buy one.

Or make one cheap so I could drive it around town but use a gas burner for long trips.
