MT Baker, Artist Pt The state has opened Artist Point, at the end of the MT Baker Hwy. How about a run on August 18 or 25. Depending on the weather of course. It is worth the trip, you folks from down south may want to overnight, and head back down Chuckanut. |
Double, I'm going on the Oregon Coast Cruise the weekend of the 18th, but would like to go to Baker the weekend of the 25th! |
What is special about this? Not trying to be an ass, just curious? |
John, it is a great road for our cars, good shape clean with lots of corners. It doesn't get opened every year because of the snow fall. The views are amazing from the top,the islands to the north cascades. There should be some great people to meet. I didn't realize the conflict with the Or fun when I posted, the 25 is probably the best if there are conflicts, and there is already one. |

Tim: I too am going on the Oregon coast run, however, I would love to participate on a Mt Baker run. I am out of state the weekend of the 25th so the first date I could join you would be the 1st of Sept. weekend. Regards, Stephen |

Okay, as much as I'm able to plan anything, I'm in. |
...I'm in. Home from Calgary that weekend. Should be fun and good excuse to stop by North Fork Brewery for some good IPA. |
 1st Sept works too |
It is a great ride and I would love to join you. One thing, the last few miles are a pretty steep climb and at relatively low speeds. When I went up last year I could see the engine got warmer than normal. No big deal, but just a little info about the run. It is like being at the top of the world.... Well, maybe more like the top of Whatcom County right next to an active volcano! There is a parking lot up there the autocrossers hold a race. |
OK lets figure on August 25th, with Sept 1 as a rain date. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Tim |
Either 8-25 or 9-1 dates will be great and we will make it. |

Artist Point Where do we meet???? Dale & Gloria McBain SPF 469 |
Dale , I was thinking on meeting at Everybody's Store in Van Zant. We can pickup some to eat at Heather Meadows or Artist point. Everybody's Store: Fine Cheeses, Wines, Meats, & Gifts In Van Zandt, Washington I will let you pick the time as Blue cobra is coming up from Skagit county, so you are the furthest away. |
Well here's a surprise. As of right now it's a 90% chance I have to work on Saturday. I'm just hoping I don't have to work on Sunday so I can make the trip down to Vancouver. |
John, i thought you were going to Vancouver. Would like to meet you if you can make it. Tim |
...works for me. We'll be going the southern route from Fairhaven, via Lake Padden, up around Lake Whatcom and then up Hwy 9 to Van Zandt. Nice run even before we get to the 'nice run'. |
How about 12 noon as a meeting time on Saturday???? Dale McBain |
I'll starting my drive 44 miles from Van Zandt so anytime is great for me. Kevin and Dianne |
