Thumbs up Run to the Coast (Seaside Trip) 7-11-14

This year we are going to make another trip down to Seaside Or. I have spoke to a few people and it appears most are already getting booked up for the summer. That being said, I am only planning on making this years trip a one night trip. If somebody has interest in making it a 2 night then please sing out and take the lead on planning the second night of the trip. So until somebody takes the lead on the second night the plan is the following:

-Friday (7-11-14) Meet at the I-5 SR512 Park and Ride at 08:30 AM.
-Meet and BS for a few!
-Hit the road 0900 AM
-Montesano Wa. Pitstop- Fuel and potty break!
-Dismal Nitch potty break
-Arrive Seaside Oregon around 12:30 (165 Miles)
-The rest of the afternoon and evening will be free form. I will try to make reservations for a group dinner if anyone is interested in that. I would just need to know how many are interested.
-1 hour before sunset work your way to the promenade for some Sunset Cobra pics!
-Sat (7-12-14) Breakfast on your own.
- 0930 AM, I will be leading those that are headed back to the Tacoma area. Route is not finalized yet.

I have called and reserved a block of 15 rooms at the Shilo Inn (B#503-738-9571). The rates are the same as they were in the past and are discounted. Ocean view room is $229 and non view rooms are $129. The rooms are being held until May 15th, after then they will be released and you are on your own. When you make your reservations please tell them that you are with NW Club Cobra for the group rate. Book early for the best room options. Block will start on 4-1-14.

Bruce, if you could please post this on the FFR site and if you still have any contacts with the Oregon crew let me know. This is a fun trip and we are looking forward to seeing everyone! Please post or PM me if you are planning on going so I can keep track of the numbers.

Thanks, Jake

Jake and Bruce,

At the Citroen Route 66 stoplight to stop-sign to traffic jam at 25MPH drive, held a couple weeks ago, it sounded like this was not going to happen this year. Glad to see it is!

Dianne and I are already booked I grabbed Saturday night too since just one day on the coast is not enough for us.

Thanks,
Kevin and Di

Here are some return trip suggestions from our Oregon brethren.

Hi Bruce,
A nefty 'lil run for you guys our club has done before is to head south 25 mi.ish from Seaside(hwy101) to Nehalem, Ore, & take Hwy 53 back North(25mi.ish) to Hwy 26 turn left(5mi.ish) & eat @ Camp 18(great food) about 18miles inland from Seaside. Hwy 53 very, very cury & a couple of low dips(ask Dave about his GT40) but fun to drive.Just saying--
Butch

Bruce:
Another option would be to back-track to Astoria and come back down Hwy 30. I like it better than 26 but I don't have any recommendations for restaurants. Coming into Rainier from the north on 30 provides a spectacular view of the bridge and you can hop over to Longview/Kelso and pick up I5. Cuts out some of the boredom on the south end of 5.

Matt and Michelle will be in attendance. Will probably just meet the group over in Seaside. May make it a longer trip and head down to Florence for some gambling. I would be in for a group dinner on the night of the 11th for 2 if that happens. See everyone soon.

Since nobody has done this already, I'm trying to setup group rates for the Three Rivers Casino on July 12. I'll post the info once it's setup.

I'd love to go, but that's the same weekend as the Historics in Portland.

Dear All,

It has been a while since I was here on this site (actually more than 2 years). I went down with you guys to Seaside/Florence back in 2011. I had since sold my 1965 red Daytona Coupe (I hope some of you remember) in 2012.

I am now back in a muscle car, I purchased a 1966 Mustang GT350 clone. This looks like a great weekend drive with some really great people. It would be nice to see you all again, if you are not all full. Please let me know. Thanks again in advance,

Jacob
