We never had so much fun. What a great group of people! These memories will last a lifetime even though we got into a little snow. The roads were fantastic especially going down Saw Tooth behind Fred H and having Bish right on my tail. The chips repaired, car washed and waxed and ready for the next event. Can hardly wait!

Fred Z,

The tune up guy in Tacoma is Bill's Tune-Up Center (was Bill's Dyno). Address: 3599 South "G" St, Tacoma. Phone: (253) 474-9811. They should be able help you tune that carb.

Angry Damage Update

Here's what I hope is the final tally:

Novus could not do a satisfactory job on the windshield. Another new windshield being ordered today for winter installation.

Learned this weekend after leaving Novus that I had no fans and no horn. Ummm. Leaning over the hood at roadside whilst investigating this odd combination, I got my first side pipe tatoo... OUCH!!

Anyway, further troubleshooting at the Zderf garage revealed two environmentally damaged relays. The German Hella relay for the horns, and the Italian 30 amp double pole relay for the pusher and puller fans failed the GICR water spray test. Moisture appears to have found its way into the relay coils and rusted the internals. Amazing..... installed at different times (3 years and 1 year ago), different brands, different functions, and both went at the same time. (I'll be buying a new fuel pump relay and installing that soon.. its under the car in a worse environment).

Gentleman, check your relays. It's this bloody climate!!

Oh well, I gunna drive around some today in hopes there are no further issues. Gotta be ready for Port Townsend and Skagit Valley!!!

Zderf,

I had the same problem late late season. I decided to get those relays "out of the eliments" so I went to Radio Shack to look for some sort of enclosure. They have these neat platic chassis boxes with covers in vaious sizes. Bought one that is about 8' X 4" X 3" in which I mounted the the three relays (two for fans, one for horn). I mounted the box in a convenient location fairly high in the engine compartment on the left side. I rerouted the wiring a bit and put on the cover. While it is not completely water proof (it could be with a bit of sealant) it keeps the relays dry unless you submerge the car. I have two puller fans which use a lot of current, wires got hot and brittle, that's why the two relays.

See ya soon.
