Default Play Cobra Trivia

Starting Thursday night I will ask 10 questions about Cobras. These questions will be from numerous printed articles from my Cobra collection. Who ever posts correct answer first will win one point. The first person who reaches 10 points will receive free a 427 cobra model. I will post each new question at about 7:00 PM Pacific Time.

Steve B gets a head start with 9 points and I bet he still looses.

No, Steve you do not get any free points.

You're wrong Jake, it's "D" all of the above.

Race-it, Just a thought...You might need a plan B if the same person is not the first to answer all 10 questions correctly, you'll need more questions.

Sounds like two V-8's, Warren.

Hard to believe they made that kind of sound, not to mention power, back then in an engine of that displacement.

Here's the full audio. Music to the ears.

In 1965, Shelby America Racing teamed up with TWA to ship cars to
Paris, France for the Le Mans Race. A giant Trans World Airline, Boeing 707 Cargo Jet was used.

How many cars were shipped ?

What cars were shipped?

What value did shipping document place on cars?

What was total gross weight?

From where shipped?

Race-it

Good Luck

Roushac
I don't know if I'm more impressed with the sound or the amazing stereo that is in that clip. I'm wearing headphones and I've never heard anything like it. The cars literally go around your head from side to side and front to back. You'd swear you were standing in the middle of the track. Just amazing !!!

In the 65 Le Mans race, SAI raced (under SAI only), two gt40's and two Daytona's. All DNF.
Not to pick nits but there's no "Cobra" umong them, unless you want to call the Daytona's "Cobra Coupes". Isn't this supposed to be a "Cobra" question?

She is not married, and lives one town away from me. I win.

Oh no Mr Bill, you changed the question. Not fair. I demand a recount.

ROUSHAC - fantastic sounds. Amazing BRM V-16 of the early 50's. Only 1.5 liter but 80 psi of boost under full power.

Of course, marry it to a great in-car camera and you get one of my all-time favorites.

wtm442 I got caught!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thought I would change the question. I will give you one point for that question. It wasn't up for more than 3 minites.

Jim

LMH was the closest so far. I am taking my answer from original TWA press release. Close does count in this game but will wait till 7:00 to see if any other people respond.

Three GT 40s and two Daytona Coupes and supposedly two Mustangs. Shipment total 40,000 LBS and were valued at $200,000.00. Shipped from Shelby factory in CA.

wtm 442 1 Point The winner of question one.

Information taken from TWA Public Relations Press Release Mr. Bob McKay

I wounder if anyone could verify that any Mustang 350 GT's went. I can not verify that, but I have a 63/64 Team Cobra Jacket given to Mr. T Banks who worked for Ford Motor Racing Division as part of the Companies Development Team for the new GT-350 Mustang. Mr Banks, was scheduled to fly with Shelby America Racing Team to LeMans to debuit the new Mustang GT-350. The jacket has the GT 350 patch and Iskiderian Racing Cam Patch. Unusual since Carroll Shelby changed Team Jackets in 1965. Jacket was ginen to Mr. Banks in 64 as he worked on the GT 350 Project. He never got to go to the race. At the last moment Carroll Shelby wanted to take a special guest along so Mr Banks lost his seat. More on this story to come.....

Sorry, I have to list this question early my daughter had a baby girl early today I will be visiting her tonight

What motor was installed in the first production cobra?
At what location was it installed?

Good Luck!

First production Cobra would be CSX2001 which was first sold to the public.
Its engine was a 260 ci Ford installed by Ed Hugus of European Cars in Pittburgh, PA

The first prototype was CSX2000 and had a 221 ci Ford installed at AC Cars Thames Ditton, Surrey, England Shipped to Shelby without engine.

1/2 Correct

Source: Shelby Cobra, The Shelby America Original Archives 1962-1956 Dave Friedman
Page # 14-15
Caption: The first 260ci engine,XHP-260-1, is installed in the first production Cobra....
Engine installed at the Dean Moon Shop in Santa Fe Springs, California in 1962

This special book was owned by Carroll Shelby and presented to Ms. Carol Connors who wrote the song Hey Little Cobra. The song was made famous by the Rip Chords and re-recorded by many other groups. Ms Connor, went on to write numerous songs and one of her most recent song was: The Theme from ROCKY. Carroll Shelby gave her this book when he gave her, her first of three Cobras. She signed the book and gave to me. Carrol Shelby's signature is boldly on the front and inscribed " Love you, "You little shi*" Carroll Shelby. Ms. Connor's tells me he always called her "A Little shi*" Carol Connors is pictured on page 30. She is still very active in music and a great pleasure to talk to.
