Tower Lanes Tacoma Cruise-in Saturday nights
Seems they are sponsoring a cruise night what with all their new remodel and such starting May 16. Saw the flyer at Baxter's recently. I wandered by last night and saw where somebody marked a little territory. I laid down a pair in answer.
Maybe see you there. At least some of you haven't been booted out of this one yet. Access from 6th Ave or North 9th. http://www.towerlanes.net/

I'll go next Saturday, that is if we haven't used up all of our Saturday's of nice weather. Used to cruise Highland Hills in the 60's. We used to get hundreds of cars on a Friday or Saturday night. That was when 6th was the main drag to downtown. It will be good to be home again. |

I lived there on the week-ends. Highland Hill, Herfy's, Bal-Marine, Mavericks Steak House. Brings back some great memories. If the weather is nice, stop by on the way Whitney and we'll cruise in together.

Jack & Darren, are you guys up for this?

				 Tower lanes bowling alley
We will be there, if the weather is good. I used to shoot pool and play the pin ball machines in 1959. Do you remember the A&W at 6th and Pearl St.

Mmmm frosty mug o root beer was goood. Big sloppy burgers too. A&W was kinda late in my game though. Kings was more happening when I was haunting the Ave after a show at the Narrows. I do remember some excitement when we uncapped the headers on the Cal Equip push truck and had mom run us to the movie that way. Those Drag Fast collectors were the best for that.

According to Tower Lanes, it starts at 4:30 and will be in the parking lot closest to 6th Ave. (between McDonalds and the book store). Hope to see a bunch of you old farts there.
 Jim (TOO)

P.S. For you A&W fans, the one in Port Orchard has a cruise night every Wed. night till the end of Sept.

Thought this one over for a second:
Cruise on over to Stinson Pilot's (Doug's Shop) in the foot hills of the Cascades and drink his beer and partake of his food or sit in a crowded parking lot on 6th Ave in Tacoma with TPD needing to make up for the loss of city funds..........DUH.

Doug, Hope you have Bud Light. |

Let me know if you want to do the Port Orchard A&W cruise sometime. We can get Andy, Whitney and I'll introduce you our newest Cobra guys, Jack and Darren.

Ok, Clue me in. Does a cruse mean we all go as a group for a spin, or we just show up eat, drink, and go home???????????
Steve, How are you coming with the hood?

Cruise-ins are generally just a bunch of people with their cars gathering somewhere that will tolerate them. It is good to have a business to sponsor one rather than call the gendarmerie if we spontaniously show up though. Unlike a show, you don't have to sit on your duff for eight hours for a dash sticky and pay for it too. Sometimes a deejay will be there at the more organized ones.

				 Tower Lanes Address?
Since I'm a north dweller, can someone post an address for this place? Isn't Tacoma somewhere in Oregon?
TiA.

Kevin $ Di | You're joking, right? If not, there is a link in the original post that will give you the address.

				 Thanks!
 jwd,
Thanks for the pointer, that's what I get for starting at the last page of the post.
The answer was easy:

6323 - 6TH AVENUE
TACOMA, WA 98406
(253) 564-8853

So Tacoma must be just a few miles north of Vancouver WA. right?
It's a joke son...have a laugh on me.
Hope to see a Snake or two there.

Cheers,
K&D
