Default hood rivets

Can someone provide the layout/spacing/location/pattern for the hood rivets on the front edge of the hood on the SC cars as well as the rivet pettern/spacing for the hood scoop?

Also, what size was the hood scoop (lip width)?

Thanks

Here's a photo of an original CSX 3??? car. There appears to be 25 front surface rivets. However, I've heard that the spacind and number of rivets sometimes varied. You should be able to scale the spacing to get close enough.

ERA is pretty good on accuracy and their manual has the first two rivets (front-center of the hood) 2" from the center line on each side. The next four rivets on each side are placed 3 inches apart. The last four rivets (each side are placed 5" apart. All rivets are placed 2" from the hood's edge on ERA's. The reality is that the rivets on comp. cars were placed in the center of the hood's support tube. That can vary a bit from car to car. Any deviation from dead center would tend to put a dimple in the hood as the rivet was drawn down. Pictures I have of Lemans 289s have the side rivets placed roughly 2" from the edge but the front rivets are probably no more than an inch and a quarter from the edge.

Check out the ERA website. They have the assembly manuals online and available for free download. The dimensions for the hood rivets are detailed on a drawing. Lots of good info in this manual.

I think I hear Evan salivating in preparation for a response to this thread.

dlotz

My friend used to own CSX3020, I have exact drawing of spacing. Mind you the car was restored by McKluskey so it should be a good representation.

Drop me an email for the jpg.

Default how wide is the hood scoop lip?

Thanks for the help on the rivet layout guys.

Now I need to know how wide is the lip on the hood scoop supposed to be on the SC cars? The flat part that rivets to the hood.

Thanks
