The CSX7000 on cobra country is a real nice FIA. I was considering last year but needed to sell a car first and then it came off the market. I went a different direction after I sold my car as there were not any used FIAs for sale. I still like the FIAs better than the 427 version but not willing to pay the premium for a new FIA over the 427.

Those look like 427 foot boxes not Ace foot boxes.

Kris is correct. Those are 427 footboxes. As far as I know, there are only two Kirkham bodied leafspring cars in the country with 289 footboxes from Poland. My '63 comp car is one and the owner of Cobra Restorers '63 comp car replica is the other. Others such as Dave Wagner replace the 427 footboxes with 289 boxes from alternative sources when they build leafspring cars. I believe the clearance issue they faced with your car is a result of using the 427 throttle setup. Original spec 289 throttle setups use a cast aluminum housing that bolts to the top of the footbox. The 427 lever comes out the side of the box like on your leafspring car.

Looks like you are going to have a beautiful car (love the BRG color). It sounds like it has been a long wait, but i am sure it will be worth it in the end.

My understanding is that the clearance issue was on the passenger side rear. As far as the Ace footboxes, I'm just passing along what SAI said the problem was. I actually haven't even seen the car in person yet.....

I concur with my esteemed 427 based colleagues.

The AC Ace foot boxes I have seen --all have been metal.

3. CSX2001 Passenger footbox

4. CSX2001 Driver Footbox
