The small block cars used Carter mechanical pumps up front as Ford provided.
The race cars I have seen without long range tanks added an electriccal SW unit in the left rear of the trunk.

I have seen this configuration in Dragonsnakes (pictured) and a LeMans car each with slightly different positioning however basically the same.
