Original roll bar nut and bolt??
title pretty much sez it all. Referring to Frankenstein bolt. Anyone have a clue as to what these started life with in the good ol' days. Perhaps aerotight (stiff nut) nut? Bolt =??
Any help greatly appreciatd

I don't know for sure, so going out on a limb here a little but my guess is since in general, rollbars and race car mods were done here at SA, it would have been an SAE nut and bolt. Probably came from the closest hardware store to the Princeton Drive location.

Mechanical locknut like an Aerotight I presume.
Not many original cars left cept 2345.... It has no hardware as forward brace nix
I used Bowmalloy bolt and Aerotight nut

Actually it would be a "NAS" bolt and nut, Shelby American Inc. used military surplus hardware when putting together competition spec Cobras, many "AC" installed fasteners were replaced during the conversion from street to racer. Later on SAI used "PREMIER" brand hardware it was a forerunner to brands like "ARP", etc. Plumbing hardware would also be "AN" or "MS" specification components. Heck, even the valve stem caps for the wheels are military surplus sourced pieces. I have provided an example of a "SAI" race shop modified "NAS" bolt (note the milled bolt head)...to really get down to the hardware "SAI" used you need to pay attention to the markings or manufacturer's markings found on the hardware!

"PREMIER TANIUM" bolt head markings, these were also a favorite among "NASCAR" racers....

SAI used a lot of military surplus in fabricating the Cobra race cars everything from, nuts & bolts to electrical and plumbing. Back then there was an abundance of surplus stores selling off NOS military specification everything. Not so much today unfortunately.

This is how you used to be able to find the hardware in the surplus stores, these would have been the concours correct throttle linkage bolts for Weber systems on 289 equipped race cars and street throttle linkage bolts for a single four barrel 427 street Cobra...note the date on the yellow tag.

Good info John!
My dad has a box full of military bolts he saved from his time in the Air Force. Lots have safety wire holes in them. I guess they used to discard them after use, so he would bring them home. I'll have to look through the box and see what I can find.
