And of course everyone knows that you can buy one of these blank tags for $20 on ebay. So until we know the VIN number and see the tag (to attempt to age it) it's still a scam.

No scam. Too late. A guy I know bought the remaining tickets. He won and he had the Cobra restored. This magnificent restoration held back no costs. He went to the top authorities on Cobras and they did extensive research before they did the restoration. They located NOS upholstery, gauges, and tires. They repainted it with some of the original Guardsman Blue paint that had been stored in Bob Bondurant's garage. They were able to rebuild the engine and all the other components except the rubber and electrical items. It even has the original sales slip that they found in the glove box.

Correction. I'm wrong. It turns out the guy I know got in on a different raffle for a Cobra found in a lake in Washington state. So this raffle is still on.

Oh and more inconsistencies. A Cobra lost in "low oxygen water" will certainly be worth raising to the top. It's all aluminum. In your neck of the woods a wrecker with a cable and a log chain could pull it to the top in 5 minutes. So you just cut off the tag?

Credibility is all that matters here and it's heading to less than zero.

He would have had to "cut" it off the fiberglass footbox.

Wait. I was wrong again. The Washington State lake Shelby was not my buddy's restoration. That one was sold privately to a Saudi Prince for $1.4M. My buddy's restoration was found in the Superstition Mountains by a guy looking for the Lost Dutchman's gold. The Cobra was dropped there by a rouge wave off the San Diego coast that picked it up and dropped it in the dessert.

There was a long article in consumer reports this month about these very scams. They are typically targeted at the elderly.

Thank you all for the emails and buying the tickets, the response was surprising. Most of you just emailed me, some of you posted that you think it is a scam, no problem. I have been looking for this car off and and on for a few years. This can be confirmed on facebook and a diving forum called the deco stop. I added some screen shoots to my profile so one can see or please by all means research into it. check facebook, check the other forum and good map the the quarry. its located on west hartford ave, in uxbridge they built comdo next to it a few years ago but the seven eight quarries are easy to see. The old road to the quarry does not exist any more as the condos are there and it heavily grown in next to the quarries on the south east side. We looked into pulling the car out but it would require a 400 ton crane and some site work to get the crane close enough and the tree out of the way, again for those that think a simple tow truck could do it, google map it and see for your self. 23 tickets sold tonight, now 36 total tickets are sold for those wondering. Oh and by the way there is no ticket numbers, the emails of those that bought tickets have been printed, folded and added to the drawing box. Grampa was said locks keep honest people honest, and dishonest people will also have dishonest thoughts... Guess those that think this is dishonest are dishonest themselves. Those that bought tickets, thank you and good luck

A photo showing the chassis tag shouldn't be too hard to do.

Can one of you guys loan me $17,000? I want to buy the remaining tickets. I'm good for it. I promise that I will restore the car and split the profits with you. All I need once I get the VIN tag is to buy a real original Cobra, rip out the VIN tag and replace it with the one I got in the raffle. I'll make a load of money.

Well lets see, this thread should be good for 6-7 pages before it turns into a "real vs. replica" duplicate!

I assume those folded entries will be kept in a hermetically sealed Mason jar under Funk and Wagnell's front porch..........................
