Gearshift 'mods' on CSX2075 - what are they?
This is the gearshift on CSX2075
Two questions...
What is the knob just behind the shift lever?
What is the gadget/switch attached to the shift lever?

More info....CSX2075 was an 'independent' Dragonsnake Cobra

The red button is called a roll control or line lock. It locks the front brakes only so you can take your foot off the brake pedal and work the clutch and gas. Makes it easy start on a hill, or stage at the drag strip. Also fun for cool smokey burn outs.
Not sure what the other knob is for.

Thanks Bob. Makes sense on a drag car for sure.
I was reasonably certain it wasn't an overdrive switch
Cheers,

The other lever is a reverse lockout for actuating reverse so you could not accidentally shift into reverse when you were intending to shift into first. I believe Hurst manufactured both items. That particular shifter mechanism was for a four speed transmission and a popular upgrade for race use beginning in the mid to late 60's although there were people who also used them on the street.

Thanks Ed. Makes sense for a drag car.
Maybe more cars apart from Dragonsnakes should have an effective reverse lockout....not that long ago I watched is some disbelief as the kid across the road started his car and reversed rapidly into the front of my car
Sheesh!

That's a bummer, Glen but exactly why the reverse lockouts were invented.
