Patience is truly a virtue in this process. But have to say it was well worth it.

Covid and the fact that CARB had gotten involved in the process for almost a year also didn't help any as far speeding up the process. In fact, for a while there, BDR and SPF Cobras were in limbo and not getting issued SB100s because CARB was claiming they were 'turn key' cars (which is actually not too far from the truth at all).

I thought it was slow and painful when I went through it - but mine was nothing compared to 19 and 20 months! When it takes longer to register the car than it does to build the car, there's a problem... Congrats on getting to the finish line!

We used Sticker Quicker in the bay area. Took 3 days and picked up the plates in the office. I thought we'd have to jump through a bunch of hoops.
Would highly recommend them.

They got your car registered through the SB100 process?

The car sold on MSO, I was the 1st registered owner.
I talked to the gentleman at the office in Fremont ( Mohammed ).
They register just about everything. Give them a call.

Was your car registered as a SPCNS (Specially Constructed vehicle) or something else? I would be amazed if a Cobra replica with a non-emissioned engine could be registered otherwise and bypass the usual, somewhat cumbersome SB 100 process.

But, love to hear if it can be done.

Cliff notes
I did an on line search for mso/registration service. A list came up, went into a local service picked Sticker Quicker, yelp ratings.
Talked to the gentleman. Told him the car was still on the truck. Car showed up,he came over to do the VIN inspection, filled out the forms. Payed the fees
there's and DMV's . Two days later I went back and picked up the plates at their office.
Sticker quicker did all of the paper and foot work.
Could not be happier.

Did this company have you go through the BAR process? If not, I would be very concerned. In 2008 when I bought my BD, my dealer had a second party, a woman, register the cars he sold. She fraudulently registered them using other vin numbers. About 6 months later the CHP and the CA DA sent me a letter that my car was illegally registered, and they were going to impound it. Luckly, I spoke to a very kind and knowledgeable CA DA and he helped me avoid this. I had to reregister my car with SB100. be careful of short cuts. They will come back to bite you.
