Default Registration

I had to register mine as a Specialty Constructed vehicle, in the year it
was built. Hope this helps get you on the right track.

Oh boy.

Good luck with the process. Your "dealer" should be able to point you a little better in the right direction, three important things to note:

1. You probably have a Certificate of Origin and not a Title.

2. As of Jan 2007 the procedure in PA changed and they limit the shops who can inspect "Specialty Constructed Vehicles" it is my understanding that in the change you are now required to have a real defroster setup (the plug in style is no deemed an obstruction of vision so that is no longer acceptable).

3. Search on here for Penndot and also checkout www.ffcobra.com for more discussions.

Recently brought an untitled SPF into the state from OH. If indeed your car is going to be titled and with a plate from MD I probably am not a resource. However, if your car will be previously untitled and you have only a manufacturer's certificate of origin in hand, you will have to go through the PA specially constructed vehicle registration maze, Find yourself a knowledgeable title agent who is familiar with specially contstructed vehicles i.e. trailers, cars, motorcycles etc. and set them to work on the project. Also, it will help if you have a trusted and understanding inspection station you can use to fill out the initial inspection report that will have to accompany your application for title/registration. I saved the best part for last, plan on it taking a minimum of 90+ days to get the vehicle properly registered and titled and that is only if there are no hitches in your application. I suggest you enlist the assistance of your local state representative or Senator in shepherding your application through. Doing so may cut down on the 90+ day turnaround. Good luck, the outcome is worth the wait.

if it's already titled, I would just go to a auto tags office and see what it takes to transfer. don't even ask about spec. constructed. probably a much easier process.

that said, I went thru the spec constr process with a new car and it wasn't that bad. < 60 days.

Defroster? I don't even have a roof. My Cobra is trying to find a new home in Westmorland County Pa, does anyone have any experience with transferring a "Constructed" 2003 WV title to PA?

My experience was not from WV, however, I did bring in a spcn (special construction) vehicle from California to PA and the transfer was quite painless. Showed up at the Tag office, and changed the registration to PA. They even gave me licence plates at that time, however, the registry sent me out different ones to use
