Nice! Maybe I missed it but where did the AL body come from? Did you build that too?

Hello, Very nice, those fotos bring back a lot of memories from my build.

One thing you need to check. In post 147, the last foto showing the trunk frame. The bottom tube needs to be held up off the lower frame tube to allow enough space for the trunk handle & latch. The measurement is approx. 1.25 - 1.5" I can check that on CSX2498 if needed.

Larry, the body is one I have for a different project, just used it to see how it would look and fit.
It is hanging back up on the wall now.

Karl, thanks for keeping an eye on things. I really like input from others more info and eye's on some thing is all way's good. I have a good inch or so gap between the two. I did set up the latch to make sure it would work. I think if you look at pic two you can see the gap better.

Now we are putting the last few brackets on the frame, passenger foot box support, roll bar mount, rear trailing link mounts, and there is a pic of the tko trans mount.

Here I have made the supports for the side windows, they are welded to the door frames and rear body frame support. The Last bracket to be welded on is the hand - park brake handle bracket. Next was to go and check every weld and make sure i did not miss any thing. It is nice to be done with this part of the build.
And that is how you build a 427 cobra frame, at least in my shop.

I've heard rumor of one of the manufacturers like Kirkham or Shelby modification or someone, making the TKO mount removable on an original style frame.
I haven't seen any pics though but wondered if you had thought about that during your build.

You are correct, my csx4000 from South Africa has the removable cross member that the Trans mount is fixed to. I did think about doing that on this frame but thinking about it for a week or two I decided pulling and installing the Trans from inside the car is not that bad of a job. I do not think Kirkham is making the removable cross member, but I could be wrong. I have some pictures of the removable cross member, I will try and find them.

I have a buddy who has a couple Shelby frames and they both have the removable transmission crossmembers. If I had seen it sooner, I would have made the modification to my chassis while it was easy. As said above, it really isn't too bad taking the tranny out from the top so I'll just leave it for now.

Here is a few pic's of the removable trans mount/cross member on my csx 4000
car. I made a couple of mods to this one as I was going to run a Richmond but then changed it to a TKO 600.

Interesting! Thanks for posting those. I hadn't seen what it looks like though I can see what you guys are saying about ease of install w/o it being removable.

Frame back from powder coating, the company I used did a great job I think.
It all so helped the manager was a big fan of the cobra so he priced the job right. I think it has turned out great now we can start bolting on parts.

Can any body guess where this might be going?
OK, after digging my original Sunburst wheels out of storage and fitting them to the new frame my mind is turning. I think we are heading down the 427 street car option.

I think a street 427 is great way to go! I'm around these cars a lot and I get tired of the SC style that everyone has. Nice clean lines of a street car would be unique and stand out.

Beating on the shiny stuff, starting to look like some thing now.
It is going to take some time before we get the body on the frame, (lots of other work going on).
