Small details are what separate a great replica from a good replica!

Question Did all original cars have fiberglass scoops? What makes this scoop that much better? What about aluminum? I thought about making a hammer form to make some out of aluminum.

To the best of my knowledge, all original big block cars had fiberglass scoops (assuming they had a scoop at all). What makes this one so special is that it is exactly like the originals in every way - size, shape, material, etc. The person who provided the hood scoop for my Cobra has arguably one of the most amazing original cobras in existence and I suspect this came from his collection of original parts. Doesn't get any better than that...

Thanks for replying . I guess I thought some were aluminum. So there are a lot of fiberglass places but good copies of an original scoop is hard to find.

The fiberglass hood scoop is now fitted ready for the paint guy's.
I also made a mold of the scoop for future builds.

While the body is at the painter I have time to go through some of the other important parts needed.
Finished rebuilding the rear uprights.
Happy with them now.

They were on the car when I purchased it, but I am 99% sure they are Wilwood.

Something like this but they have tons of different options:

Kind of a shame to cover up all that aluminum with paint...

Hey Kevin,
we are only covering the one side, leaving the other side nice and shinny for ya.

I got a great surprise this morning when Craig sent me pictures of my RED Cobra!!! Unbeknownst to me, my car was painted over the weekend and I couldn't be happier. The pictures look great and I am looking forward to seeing the car in person. Time to start putting all the pieces and parts back on!!

Nice paint job. She sure will be a looker when it is al done. The sound as the cobra approaches will draw their attention and the beauty will keep them looking.

Thanks guys - I appreciate the kind words. Craig has done an awesome job and I am really excited to be getting close to the finish line. It has been a long but worthwhile project and I can't wait to be driving my Cobra!!
