If you are going with a tubbed body like the Hurricane, ERA, etc.... you can get by with a substantially simpler chassis in 2x4 tubing. The body can be purchased several places but you may want to shop around to find one to your liking. There are a lot of variations in body styles, quality, and originality and some will be easier to work with and live with than others.
If you want to go with the "non-stressed" body- meaning it is only supported by the superstructure and isn't part of the structural frame, you can get them lots of places also. I believe Factory Five will sell just a body as well as some others. My body came from Roger Bollick from this forum and it is extremely well made and accurate to the originals.
Patrick is right, fitting the superstructure to the body can be a real head scratcher, but nothing you can't handle if you have some good fabricating skills. I bent most of my tubes with an electrical hand bender and a few other manual tools and it fits great.
Either way, let us know if we can help and we'll relate how we accomplished whatever task you need help with.

From what I am reading the tub is a lot cooler, dryer, and stronger, my main concern is the glass floor and will anything penetrate and cause injury? I personally really like the hurricane kit but the initial outlay hurts on retired income.

Speaking of the big crash HAL my shop computer is in rehab as we speak. There was a lot of info there and I saved most of it but it's been a battle to just get all of the devices to work. So yes I feel your pain. So sit tight your present will show up this weekend just send me a new e-mail I may have lost yours. Untill then try to figure out what bodystyle you want to build. and if you ever get to the twin cities area let me know and you can come and see the build in person. Patrick

Thats It!, well the cats out of the bag. Yes I have a SO SO set of 427 chassis prints in a digital formate(pdf). Are they as good as the ones from Cobra Restores I don't know. They do not include suspention parts and some dimesions are funky but they can be printed out on 11"x17" paper and sent via e-mail. Now I could be charging people for these but I would never do that. So here is a one time offer If you want a set e-mail me your address so I can attach them and send them to you. This offer is only good until Fri. June 18th then I'm going to hide them away, in case the Cobra Restores secret agents come after me. Patrick

For those who are interested I enlarged the print of the frame to approx 3x4ft which is real easy to read while working.
