You bought a good car.

The support on the other hand, from Shelby, is non existent. And the dealers, l little better.....

You're a do-it-yourself-er, so you'll do great.

Should he seek, at any cost, an assembly/build/service manual crafted from the manufacturer, does one even exist, anywhere? I know when I ragged on this topic about a decade ago (along with the fact that KMS had no manual either) that there were rumors that one did indeed exist, but that recipients were prohibited from providing it to anyone, discussing it, or even acknowledging its existence.

your right... ERA has excellent customer support, I may end up getting some parts from them.

There is zero documentation with the car, I have no Idea what the fuses do or the relays, But I am an electrician by trade Ill figure it out.

To be honest I was pleasantly surprised on the quality of my CSX car. I wont try to compare it to other manufactures but let me say this, The doors seem more sturdy, the hood/trunk open and close better, the seats are more comfortable, the steering shaft has zero play in it.

That being said I have not driven this car, a few years ago I drove a friends (HST) CSX car and It seemed loose, meaning that when I went over some bumps the car rattled. The ERA car is exact opposite, it is a tight car and handles perfectly.

I harped on it for years, and finally quit. But I'll bi*tch about it one more time for posterity. If you drop six figures on a "beautifully crafted" CSX, KMS, or SPF then, dammit, the manufacturer ought to provide you with a detailed service manual that wasn't written by someone with only a third grade education, or for whom English is a "work in progress." There is absolutely no excuse for not providing one. Regardless of the manufacturer, somebody had to have built that roller and that somebody knows all the parts, and their numbers, the specifications, and their recommended replacement techniques. The least they could do is memorialize it and provide it to the buyer.

I can't speak for CSX or KMP cars but we do have a manual, both owners and install for SPF cars. It is up to the dealer to "pay up" to the third party supplier for the owners manuals as the distributor does not supply them. The 289 and 427 owners manuals come from different sources but both are well done and cover the operation as well as much install info. There is also a 427 SPF install manual that is close to 20 years old but still very relevant.

There are also very well done wiring diagrams that are specific to the chassis number and reflect any changes that have taken place over the evolution of the SPF Hi-Tech manufactured chassis'.

We can supply either. If you have an SPF and desire the owners manual let us know the chassis number and we can put you in touch with the supplier. The 427 install manual is a PDF with 14 chapters and a REALLY BIG file but we can email in several emails. info(AT)timemachinesauto.com

Feh. When was the last time you read the manual on a TV?

If you need a manual for a Cobra you should buy a Subaru. There is no rocket science and everything is right out there in front of God and Everybody.

The electricals would have been nice though. Tracing things down with probes was a PITA.

Bullshi*. That's just a poor half-ass excuse for not tackling a job that is actually quite hard to do right (writing a quality service manual). The truth is, nobody wants to do it. Remember KMS got "partially" through theirs before abandoning the project. The current ERA maintenance/assembly manual is 183 pages long, and there is meat on every page.

After having as many issues as there was with a CSX6XXX Continuation Cobra that we completed for a client I can assure you.....

1) There is no assembly manual.

2) There is no electrical schematics, could have used one after the main wiring harness chaffed on a frame bracket and blew the fuel pump fuses.

3) There are no alignment specifications provided.

4) There is no product support whatsoever.

5) There is no knowledge by the installer of the components needed to complete the car to "roller" status in the understanding of hardware (nuts and bolts)or the use of.

7) THERE IS NO FACTORY WARRANTY ON WORKMANSHIP OR IMPROPERLY INSTALLED COMPONENTS BY THE FACTORY THAT LEAD TO DAMAGE OF SAID COMPONENTS.

8) There is no information provided by the manufacturer for known defects or workmanship.

9) Even though Shelby American's name is on the product they will do nothing to correct a licensees inept workmanship or defects.

Even a 1940 Oldsmobile had a 300 page service manual. I would say our cars are at least as complicated as a pre-war Olds.

Yet somehow, our cars get built and maintained. Amazing how things get done without a 300-page manual.

At least the Kirkham manual is online here at CC.

Forgot a few;

10) Someone used a 90 degree home gas fitting to attach the oil pressure hose to the oil pressure gauge! I found this when I went to prime the engine oiling system and found a puddle of oil on the drivers side floor carpet.

11) Gouged up rear wheel

This list does not cover the substandard paintwork or inner aluminum inner panel damaged areas.
