You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and Rick is a pretty old dog

Better a pretty old dog than an ugly old dog.

ERA 626 -- Mike, if I were you I would call up CompClassics on the phone, spend about an hour with him, then send him a big "thank you" gift basket (you know, a really good one that has cashews, macadamias, cheeses, meats, wine, etc.) and listen to all the trap doors that he can tell you about. His thread about the differential pumping itself dry is a nightmare waiting to happen. There's probably another dozen gotchas that he can help you avoid as well.

All of the problems that CompClassics cites regarding the new CSX cars
do not exist with the ERA Cobras. I am the second owner of an ERA FIA
that is 13 years old and the customer service help provided over the phone
recently by Bob Putnam was fabulous. Three days in a row he willingly
helped me troubleshoot an electrical problem that I could not figure out.
The manual and electrical diagrams are OEM quality but Bob helped me
with a basic step by step tutorial for the specific problem. He even sent me
a propriety connector free. I broke it and he sent me another...also free.
I might also add that the ERA Cobras are one of the only replicas out there
the actually look and drive like the real 1960's cars. 5 Stars !

That is correct these issues dont apply to ERA... My post was not intended to compare a CSX car to an ERA I currently own an ERA, its a great car with great customer support. Lets not twist my post on a bashing CSX post!!
you quote "ERA cobras are one of the only replicas out there
the actually look and drive like the real 1960's cars." that would be correct. They are Kirkham, CSX and ERA. although ERA chassis is not even close to the original, but I think you already know this. My point is, I did NOT start this post for all the people who have ERAs or SPF or FFR or whatever to bash CSX because they dont have the mechanical aptitude to sort out a roller.
Again I wanted a CSX because its NOT a replica of a shelby, it is a shelby. Please dont chime in with "is it real" comments. Because a 2018 shelby mustang is a 2018 does this mean its not real? LOL! Just take a look at market values of a FFR VS a SPF compared to a ERA KMS or a CSX...the market has spoken.

Mike,
Your ERA is a stunning car, as I suspect so will be your new CSX. Hang in there, take things one step at a time and it will work out just fine. All else fails, I highly recommend you reach out to CompClassics and let him assist you in working the kinks out of your new build.
Bill
PS: Can't wait to see it
