I have to say I rather prefer the idea it is going back to RHD. The significance in these things in in the context in which they were making history. There was no significant LHD history... Leaving it LHD deminishes it in the overall scheme of things.

Hard to imagine racing a 427 in the rain or even slightly wet. It is enough to handle on a perfect day. Those guys were certainly brave and not doing it for the money. |

LB - Did I ever share with you the photos of 3006 when Bill Freeman first bought it in early '65? The blue metallic with gold stripes really looked nice. I wonder if that had anything to do with the paint scheme on my car? Hmmm... And now you're returning it to white with a flat black hood ? Great - do it. It's YOUR car after all. Plus, we don't want too many blue/gold ones running around.

When Jeff Sime, then working for Bob Jordan's Investment Motor Sports, delivered my 427 S/C #3047 to me in February 1987, it was accompanied in the trailer by 3006, which was on its way up to Connecticut to its new owner. I believe that the original 427 mag wheels that I got with my S/C actually came off of 3006.

Since the time frame that I am referring to is 20+ years after CSX3006 was first delivered, I have no idea if the wheels that I got with my CSX3047 were the ones that 3006 was originally equipped with. All I was told was that my wheels "came from 3006." They are 7-1/2" and 9-1/2".

Hi, Don: When Carter sold 3047 to Jack Launtz, it had a mis-matched set of wheels, using 6.5" FIA Halibrands on the front and 9.5" Cobra II Halibrands on the rear. Another of Carter's former cars, 3044, had the reverse, with the 7.5" Cobra II's at the front and 8.5" FIA's at the rear. My guess is that when Bob Jordan owned both 3047 and 3006, he decided to put the wheels that had been on 3006 onto 3047. But by that point in time, 3006 already had a replacement set of wheels on it, installed by Geoff Howard during a restoration several years earlier. Those are the wheels you likely received.

To further confuse things, when CSX3047 was delivered to me it rolled on Trigo aluminum wheels. The original 7-1/2" and 9-1/2" magnesium wheels that accompanied the car were bare (no tires).

Hi Guys:I put the repro Trigos on 3047. When I bought the car from Carter Getty, it came with 6 1/2's and 8 1/2's which went to George Stauffer when I traded the car to him.
