Question 9" Rear

I have measured the 9" rear in my Shell Valley Cobra and it measures 52 1/2" end to end. I have the Pin Drive adapters for the Knock-off wheels with 295/15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. The tire stick out about 1 1/2 inches past the wheel well. I have taken the car to the shop to see about getting the rear narrowed but the problem is with the brackets for the rear calipers and the mounts for the rear control arms. There is very little space left to narrow the rear enough. My car is an older kit and the disc brake brakets seem as if they were made from some thick wide steel stock that was cut with a blow torch. Does Shell Valley sell the correct widthe rear with disc brakes/brackets I would need to fit my application? If so, what would the cost be for a complete rear with axles and all? Are my tires simply too wide? I am figuring that I would need to narrow my rear 3" or more.

Thanks for the help.

Greg

Would it be easier and less expensive to just get an 8.8 rear from a late 90's Ford Explorer with disc brakes and have that narrowed and necessary control arm brackets added??

Our 9" housings now meausre 50 1/2" (housing only, flange to flange) We've gone as narrow as 48 1/2" to help clear the Trigos. On an older car the trailing arms may be placed slightly different than today so that may be the limiting factor.

Dana,

Could you guys build me a 9" rear narrowed to 49" that would work in my Shell Valley? I have the small bearing ends with disc brakes from a 2000 explorer.
