Default Cobra shifter handle

Does anyone know where to get an original looking 427 style shifter handle that bolts up to a Hurst shifter on a toploader. I have only seen them for T-5, T-45, T-56 & TKO transmissions.

Default shifter handle

Try Finish Line or Cobra Restorers or Branda in PA. You can get them with the operational reverse lock out as well. matching kobs are available.

David Kee Toploaders, who is an advertiser on this forum. Look in the "Traansmissions" section Portal.

I second the David Kee Toploaders! He has all the right stuff WITH the knowledge to make it right too. I spent A LOT of hrs on mine and just should have gotten it all from David. I would have saved a crap load of time and in the end I only saved $45 dollars. He's the man! Not that the others don't have some of the same stuff, David just gets the run down on what you have and THEN will get you the right part. Good Luck!

I am looking for one that the bolts are vertical to bolt up to the Hurst shifter with the non-functional reverse lever. Finish Line only sells for T-5 TKO.

I looked there I only saw complete shifters. I am looking for just a handle that will bolt up to my existing shifter like the ones that bolt up to the TKO's

I see what your saying and I had the same problem. I used a Hurst Comp Plus shifter with the removable stick. I ended up making a bracket that let me use their stick for a "t-5" shifter and drilled out the holes in the shifter handle (stick) to make it work. I'll see if I have any pics of it. I wanted the "correct" shifter look and it works perfect except I don't have the reverse lock out. I'll see what I got. Thanks, Matt.

Lets see if this works. I had to actually move my shifter forward a little based off of what the tailshaft needed. Plus the shifter ended up to far back and NOT where it was supposed to be. Hope this gives some ideas. I made my own Heim jointed shifter too. I love it! NO SLOP! Very solid. PM with any questions.

Do You need to adapter part that bolts to the Hurst shifter that would allow the use of a stock shifter handle, right? There's always a couple of ways to do things. I think a call to David will get you what you need. He's been doing this for quite sometime! Even if he doesn't have it on his website I bet he knows where or how to get it resolved. Matt

Matt,
I'm really looking for a handle like yours only curved. Can you tell me if the holes on the handle line up with the hole on the shifter body? I don't care if they are the same size, I will be putting a bolt through it anyway like the original hurst unit.

Here is what I am looking for. I am looking for a handle like the ones Finishline has for the T-5 but that will fit the Hurst shifter. I already have a stock Ford handle which I made an adapter to fit but it curves toward the steering wheel and hits it. The finishline ones look straight which will clear the wheel. If no one make this I quess I will have to modify my adapter so that the stock one works.

Bill at Southern Automotive has them. I have one from Bill on my toploader with a Hurst shifter. The reverse lockout is sprung-loaded, but doesn't actually do anything.

If I remember right the holes didn't line up exactly plus there was the chance of "slop" or movement. I almost made a bracket that took up that extra space and kept the shifter handle in place. I ended up moving it forward as seen. I really think there is a way to fab up a bracket that will work. Can you post some pics? Matt

Thanks for all the responses.

Why??

As I have already said, Southern Automotive have exactly what you are looking for.

It bolts directly onto the Hurst shifter.
