Default Remote Oil Filter Bypass that will not rotate loose

I have had this problem with my last two remote oil filter bypass; they eventually rotate themselves loose. The SS braided lines to the oil cooler and the constant motion of the engine motion work its way loose.

Is there any adpaters that does not have this issue that is somehow bolted down or held down to keep it from spinning?

Thanks

Hello Xavier,

Here is the Oil Cooler Adapter for the Competition Model (“R”) GT350 it differs from the 289 Cobra version. The filter hangs straight down so whatever the angle (90 degree) really doesn’t have the opportunity to rotate. The center bolt does double duty as the inlet fitting bolting to the block. The rubber gasket from an oil filter (Fram HP8 or HP1) goes in between the block the adapter. A standard filter spins on vertically or right side up.

These “Cobra“cast adapters can be had from Cobra Automotive. Kind’a pricy at $275.00ish with fittings, oil line are extra.

Attached are a couple pics of my engine with the adapter.

Earl, get me that pic when you can.

In the meantime I am wondering if this would work? I "think" it is doing what you describe, can be clocked - I just want to make sure the center bolt keeps it from clocking. Can anyone confirm?

No, not really. The bottom of the bolt and top of the adapter are both smooth.

Once it's tight, and the lines are connected, it shouldn't move. Mine never did.

But, if you're worried about it, put an inside tooth star washer under the head of the bolt. That will keep it exactly where you put it.

If you want to continue using the adapter you have, drill a hole through the outside rim of the adapter, and into the block. Then use a dowel to keep it aligned.

IMO the Canton adapter is overly heavy, I used it previously and thought it had more mass than necessary. After investigation I found this, and have never looked back:
